"Guys, slow down!" Clary called out as the rest of the gang walked far ahead of her at a quick pace.
The four ignored her as they continued walking ahead. That is, until they heard Clary let out a loud gasp. Margo tightened her grip on Alec's hand, feeling a sudden wave of adrenaline rushing over her.
She turned at the opportune moment when Jace slashed his seraph through a demon in the form of an elderly woman. "What the hell?"
"Language," Jace scolded, "Not in front of Grandma."
Margo snorted.
"How did it find us?" Alec asked.
Jace shook his head. "I don't know... but she brought friends." Following Jace's gaze, Margo could see a few cops deglamorized.
When she took notice of the confused look on Clary's face, she explained. "It's like seeing through a glamour. You just gotta pay attention to the details."
"But, I can't see anything," Clary frowned, trying to understand.
Alec tugged at Margo's hand. "Behind us."
"I still can't see them." Clary looked around, seeing the hoard of people. "Okay, there's too many people."
Alec turned to glance at her from beside Margo. "I don't say this often, but I agree with Clary. We gotta get out of here."
Clary's head snapped out in different directions until she found an escape. "Hey, this way!" She led the group down a long flight of stairs, ending up at a door at the corner. "What's the Unlock rune again?" she hopefully asked the group.
Jace took no time in breaking the door down with one powerful kick. "Open sesame," he joked.
"Show-off," Margo grumbled as the five friends passed through the door.
Jace rushed everyone through, glancing back at Alec as he grabbed at his bow and arrows. "What are you doing?" he asked his parabatai.
"Holding them off," Alec simply answered, glancing back at the three girls. "Take Clary back to the Institute."
Jade shook his head. "No, if you're staying, I'm staying. We fight together."
"Don't be stupid. If the demons get the Cup, were dead anyways."
Jace growled at his best friend's stubbornness. "I'm not leaving anyone behind."
Alec rolled his eyes, slightly pushing Jace towards the route to the Institute. "You don't have a choice."
Clary squeaked from behind them, rushing. "I know you guys are having a moment, okay? But we really have to go."
