I Remember Our Wedding Day
Chapter 18
Demi's POV
Two days later...
It's two in the afternoon and Nick called me a few minutes ago to say he's on his way up with Delilah and Simon. It's nice that Nick is coming up too. I think it's been at least four days since I've seen him.
20 minutes later...
Simon, Delilah, and Nick walk into the room. I greet them all with a wide smile and warm hugs. My doctor comes in after them. He greets everyone in a chipper manner. "Hi Demi. How are you feeling today?" "I'm feeling pretty good. My head doesn't ache as much and I've been able to walk laps around the hospital successfully." "That's great. Now do you mind if your loved ones and I test your memory capacity?" I bite my lip and my anxiety starts to build up. I shove it down quickly. "Sure that's fine."
He starts off with basic questions like where I was born and my first role. I'm able to answer those successfully. Nick asks me questions about our childhood and I'm even able to answer those pretty well. Simon is the last one to step up and ask. He hesitates before the question I know he's been thinking about constantly. "Do you remember anything what we have?" I close my eyes and try to see if any memories come back to me. A quick flash passes by. It's of Simon and I on our wedding day. I blink unintentionally and panic. I close my eyes to try to get the picture back, but it's gone for now. Everyone looks at me with concern. I smile to ease their worry. I look at Simon. "I remember some details on our wedding." The most incredible smile forms on Simon's face and his eyes swell with tears. "That's amazing Demi. Your memory is coming back! I knew it would! God I love you so much!"
Nick steps forward after Simon and I finish our moment. "Demi, it's great that memories are coming back to you." Her doctor concurs. "Indeed you're right Nick, which leads me to more good news. Since you've made so much progress Demi, you're allowed to go home tomorrow. We just want to keep you one more night for observation. After that, you're a free woman. Congratulations." I shake his hand and thank him for everything he's done for me. I mean it's the least I can do after he saved my life. He leaves the room and I spend the rest of the day relishing in the fact that I can finally see the world again beyond these hospital walls in just one more day.
