Chapter 19

Simon's POV

Demi just got released from the hospital not even five minutes ago. I'm bringing her home as we speak. As for Delilah, Nick took her out for some ice cream to keep her busy for a little while. I want Demi to have a few minutes to herself to take in our home, which may be still be fuzzy in her mind.

   10 minutes later...

I gradually pull into the driveway. I get out and go around back to help Demi out. Although she is gaining back her memory, she is still struggling a bit physically. Her doctor told us that she has to use a walker for a week and to take it easy. Knowing Demi, she'll fight me on that tomorrow. I'm not going to cave. I want Demi to help completely and properly. I pull the walker out of the trunk and hand it to her. She rolls her eyes but grabs onto it. We slowly hobble into the house. I then help her settle onto the couch in the living room while I go grab her belongings and medicine.

When I get back into the house, Demi pats the spot next to her on the couch, motioning for me to sit. "Simon, I just wanted to thank you for everything that you've done for me for nearly the past month. Me losing my memory took as big as toll on you as it did on me. I can't even imagine how much pain you were in." I place a finger to her lips. "Demi, I love you. I'd do anything for you. I'd crawl across the earth just to make you smile. Also, you're my wife. I'm in this marriage for better or for worse."

She smiles a strained smile. "No Simon I'm going to say this. Most men don't have the courage to step up in a drastic situation like the one we've dealt with. You stuck by me and never gave up that I would recover from this. Despite the days were I knew you wanted to literally shake the memories back into my mind, you never left. I owe so much to you. Plus, you and Nick took such good care of Delilah. I'm glad to see that she that this didn't destroy her."

I grab a hold of her hands. "Delilah is a tough girl. She can handle just about anything. You know who she gets that from?" Demi shakes her head no. "She gets it from you Demi. You're the strongest person there is. It's an honor to be your husband and spend all my days with you. Now let me help you to bed. You must be exhausted." She laughs. "You know me so well and I would appreciate that very much." I carry Demi  bridal style up the stairs, place her into bed, cover her up in blankets, and kiss her forehead. She smiles as she drifts off to sleep.
