Dangerous Situation 

Chapter 40

Joe's POV

  20 minutes later...

    "Nick, we brought you back a cheese calzone along with some sweet potato fries on the side!" I try to get in his bedroom door, but it's locked. I turn back to Kevin who looks at me in panic. Kevin bangs on the door. "NICK, THIS ISN'T FUNNY! OPEN THE DAMN DOOR!" No response. I put Kevin behind me and throw myself against the door until it falls down. Once it does, Kevin and I see Nick's limp body and a pool of blood dripping off the side of the bed. Kevin almost faints and I have to catch him while dialing 911. An operator answers me immediately. "Hello 911, what's your emergency?" I shallow the lump in throat and try not to sound too shrill. "My brother Nick self harmed. He slit his arms all the up to his shoulders and down to his wrists. He's unconscious from the blood loss and is still bleeding."

     "We'll send ambulance right away. It will be at your location in five minutes." I thank her and hang up the phone. Kevin waits at the door and I stay with Nick. 

5 minutes later...

   The ambulance pulls up and Kevin lets the paramedics in. They dash up the stairs and meet outside of Nick's room. They check his vitals, which turn out to be low right now. They then put him on a gourney. Kevin rides with Nick to the hospital. I tell him I'll be there shortly after. I have one quick important errand to run. I pull out of the driveway and head to Simon and Demi's. I'm going to give a piece of me. 

Simon's POV

    Demi and I put Delilah down for a nap an hour ago. She ate supper earlier. We're currently making fried chicken and salad for dinner for ourselves. By we I mainly mean Demi because she is the better cook of the two of us. I am helping though by placing the appropriate materials before her. 

*Loud sudden knocking occurs* I jump up from my chair to open the door. As soon as I see who's in front of me, I'm tempted to beat the living shit out of him. It's Joe. Joe stares me down like a rabid dog. "Do you know what you and your hussy wife made Nick do?" I grab Joe by his fucking throat. "Don't you ever call Demi a hussy. You're crossing a thin line. Also,I could get a restraining order on you for showing up to our house uninvited." I squeeze his throat even tighter. "You're just a kid compared to me. You have little power in Hollywood. Nick's the only Jonas brother people actually care about these days. I'm just not one of the people who does."

    Demi approaches the door. "Joe, you need to leave. We don't want you hear. We also know what you're going to say. Nick tried to kill himself and we're supposed to pity him. Is that right?" He nods while I continue to choke him. Demi silently pleads for me to let him go and I do. "Demi, Nick did cut himself up and down his arms. He's on the way to the hospital right now. He's lost so much blood that we don't know if he's going to come out of this." I block Demi from Joe. "You have no right to manipulate Demi like this." Joe pushes me. "Demi can speak for herself. She might be a hussy, but she does have a brain, despite how small it might be." Demi falls to the floor with a thud when Joe pushed me. She begins to cry. I run to her and lift her into my arms. "You need to leave here and never come back. If you do, you're going to regret it for the rest of your life. That's a promise." I slam the door and lock it. 

     Demi looks at me with such sadness. "Why did Joe hurt me? I never did anything to him. Sure we dated and things ended rocky, but that was when we were kids. As for Nick, I don't have the strength to deal with him in my life again." I pat her back as she continues to let the sobs out. When she finally begins to calm down, I finish making supper myself and bring it to her on the couch. She nibbles at the salad and chicken. The chaos made her lost appetite. I then carry her to bed and let her rest while I stay up awhile thinking about how to fix this dangerous situation.
