Tacos
Chapter 29
Simon's POV
2 hours later..
I'm tapped on the shoulder by Nick. He tries to do the same to Demi but I grab a hold of his arm to stop her. "Let her sleep Nick. She needs the rest more than I do. What's up?" "Delilah wants to eat supper with you. I can whip up something for you both so you don't have to move around too much." "That'd be great Nick. Let's go downstairs to see what we have." I grab my cane off the dresser and use it to get down the stairs. Nick pulls out a chair for me to sit in and he runs into the kitchen. He holds up several foods including grilled chicken, pizza, pasta, and tacos. I lift Delilah into my lap. "What would you like baby girl?" She giggles. "Tacos." "You heard the girl Nick. We're having tacos." He grins and gathers the materials to make them.
I watch as Nick makes the tacos. His hands move at a speedy but delicate manner. I'm impressed. The man has skills in the kitchen. Before we know it, Delilah and I are presented with two tacos each stuffed with peppers and spices coming out of the wazoo. Spices don't even phase Delilah. In fact, she loves drenching several foods in spicy sauce especially fries and chicken nuggets. She gets it from Demi to be honest. I take the first bite of my first taco. I moan out of pleasure. "Nick you make a mean taco." He laughs. "I'm glad you like it." He turns to Delilah. "Do you like uncle Nick's tacos?" She nods her head vigorously. "It makes me happy to hear that. I'll save two for Demi to eat later if she happens to wake up and want something to eat. If not, she can reheat them for a meal tomorrow." He wraps them and puts them in the fridge. It's going to take a lot of strength not to eat them myself because of how good they are, but it wouldn't be fair to do that to Demi. She loves her tacos. I can't deprive her of something so dear to her heart. Whether us human beings want to admit it or not, tacos one of the essences of our lives.
