Chapter 26

   Demi's POV

       This is the moment once again where I have to watch the love of my life get pulled away from me into the operating room. Simon has an expression on panic plastered on his face. He even is biting his lip. That's a habit he picked up from me, except he doesn't do it as much as I do. I gently caress his face and turn it to face me. "Simon, you are going to be fine. You've been through at least a dozen surgeries over the course of your life and each time you've come out alive. You are the strongest man I know. I love you and I will be here waiting for you when you wake up along with Delilah." Taking him by surprise, I give him a kiss that with give him the most extreme lust until they put him under. He has a goofy grin on his face as he waves to me one last time. 

    3 hours later...

     Dr. Troy comes out to the waiting room. She's careful not to wake Delilah up. Delilah fell asleep on my lap an hour ago. I'm trying to let her sleep a little bit longer. The poor girl hasn't had a full night's sleep in weeks. "Demi, we were able to successfully drain all the fluid in his heart that was causing the minor clots.  We're sending Simon to recovery now. You'll be allowed to see him in an hour." I cry tears of joy and hug Dr. Troy. "Thank you so much Dr. Troy. You've been so wonderful to Simon, Delilah, and I. I'm going to stay here until we're allowed to see him. Will you come back to take us to him?" She smiles. "Absolutely. See you in a bit."

1 hour later...

      Dr. Troy comes back to fetch us. I gently wake Delilah up. She groans but gets up when I tell her to. We follow her to his new room. "Just a warning, he's heavily sedated so he might act funny for the next few hours. The effects will wear off by tomorrow at the latest." At the sound of Dr. Troy's voice, Simon's eyes flutter open. He blinks a few times and takes in his surroundings before laughing. I look at Dr. Troy for guidance. "One of the side effects of the medication is moody swings. Some including excessive giggling or moderate depression. Clearly this is a giggly one."

      Simon takes a strand of my hair and twirls it. "Your hair is so pretty Demi. It's so goddess like." I giggle myself at that and blush. "Thank you love." I look at Dr. Troy with a look that says "I'm grateful for everything you've done, but I want some alone time with my husband and daughter." She gets it and leaves the room. Once Dr. Troy leaves, Delilah climbs onto the bed next to Simon and falls asleep once again. She only got to sleep for two hours in the waiting room so she needs more in order to function. 

        Simon and I spend the rest of the evening laughing over the simple things like when I dropped a cup of water on the floor or how the moon looks when it rises into the night sky. I look at the clock after hours of chat to see that it's already ten at night. I have to get Delilah home for school in the morning. Simon is aware that I have to leave so he gently strokes her on the arm to wake up. Her eyes slowly open and she groans once again. Gosh I thought I hated waking up from a good nap more than anyone, but I think Delilah is beating me in that category now. She slowly gets out of the bed, gathers her belongings, and stands beside me. She jumps up one last time to give Simon a hug and kiss on the cheek. He laughs again but returns the gesture. When I step forward to have my turn, he grabs me passionately and kisses me with full tongue and all in front of Delilah. Luckily, she looks away while he does it. He licks my ear and whisper "I may be drugged up right now, but that wouldn't stop me from making any form of love to you gorgeous." I go sheet red as I summon Delilah to leave. I keep eye contact with him until he's no longer in sight. Gosh that man is a piece of work. That's all a part of his charm though.
