Chapter 27

Simon's POV

      The next day...

        Demi has been filling me on my current condition and the side effects that occurred after surgery due to some of the medication. I hide my head in my hands. Demi begs to see my face, but I won't let her see more than my eyes right now. "Demi, I'm too ashamed to look at you right now. I acted like a five year old schoolboy who sniffed a bit too much paste. I'm almost 60. I shouldn't have acted the way that I did." 

        Demi laughs and I glare at her. "I'm serious Demi. If the media were to have gotten any footage of behaving that way, I'd never been able to show my face in L.A. again." She rolls her eyes. "I think you're being overdramatic Simon. No press got any footage of you. No press are allowed to even enter the hospital. Relax okay?" I nod and take a deep breath to let the stress begin to flow out of me. After doing so, Demi asks "All better?" I nod again and she sighs a sigh of relief.  

     15 minutes later...

       Dr. Troy comes in with a smile on her face. "I have some good news if you'd like to hear it." I wave her over. "Some good news would be quite nice." "The good news is that since we operated on you, the fluid buildup has decreased significantly and you haven't thrown up in three days. We need to keep you under observation for until Tuesday to make sure you're in the clear. Tuesday is only five more days. How does that sound?" "That's five days too many, but that is good news. Thank you Dr. Troy." "You're very welcome Simon. Do you need anything?" I look at Demi to have her help me decide. She has those womanly instincts that can predict the needs of others. 

        She shakes her head no. "No I think I'm okay for now Dr. Troy. I'll page a nurse if I get hungry or need help getting around." She nods and leaves the room. Demi leans her head into mine. "The moment is coming Simon. In just five days, you'll be home again and we can finally have the feeling of being a family again." I peck her on the lips. "I know my love. I can't wait to lie in our bed with you and read to Delilah until she falls asleep. I miss the little things such as eating pizza together in the kitchen or taking a shower with you while I graze different parts of your body." She blushes and swats my arm. I laugh like a maniac. "Don't say things like that here Simon. Dr. Troy or the nurses might hear you." I shrug. "Oh well. Let them hear me. They're probably just jealous because they don't have a significant other as perfect as you." "Simon?" I lean in closer. "Yes Demi?" "I love you so much. "I love you more than that Demi. Trust me."
