Bucky Barnes x Reader (I'm very sorry I didn't use your name! I try to keep these open to everyone, so I like to make them mostly reader inserts if I'm given the option. I'm sorry!)

"Bucky, are you okay in there?" You called through your house to your husband, who had rushed off to get ready to leave an hour ago and had yet to reappear. He never took this long to get ready, and you were honestly scared. Your husband had a history of forgetting who he was and, though it hadn't happened in quite a while, you wouldn't be surprised if he had fallen back into his old ways.

As the fear shot through you, you found yourself tossing your bag down and rushing off towards your shared bedroom. Different scenarios ran through your head, each one more terrifying than the last. What if he wasn't even here anymore, what if he was gone? What if he had forgotten again and gotten so frightened of his surroundings that he just ran away? Your breathing quickened as your feet smacked against the hardwood stairs of your home. Your heart was pounding in your chest, and you finally reached your bedroom door. Slowly, you creaked it open to reveal what you had been searching for.

Bucky Barnes was sitting on the bed, your new chocolate Labrador puppy sitting contently in his lap. The pup was gleefully jumping up at Bucky's face, snapping his tiny jaws at your husband's nose. Bucky was giggling like a schoolgirl at the dog's playfulness, and he was scratching behind the dog's ears with a grin.

Finally, Bucky looked up at you, his hair tousled and wild from his play time. His cheeks were red and he still held his smile as he stood up with the puppy in his arms. He walked over to you, placing on hand on your hip and kissing you on the cheek. "Sorry, doll. He just wouldn't let me leave," Bucky apologized with a grin, and you just rolled your eyes with a smile.

"Oh really? The four week old puppy just wouldn't let you leave, would he?" You interrogated playfully. Bucky nodded.

"You should've seen him! He was vicious!" He defended himself. Just as the words left his mouth, the puppy reached up and licked his chin happily, his tail wagging. Bucky sighed and looked down at him. "Well that was awful timing, buddy."

You laughed. "Come on, we need to go get him food and toys and... Dog things! What all do dogs need?" You wondered aloud as he put the puppy down on the ground. The small dog scurried off to another part of the house, much to your amusement.

"I'm not sure. Let's just go see what they have. Bye puppy!" Bucky called as you both made your way back down the stairs and out the door. You smiled and climbed into the driver's seat. Bucky took his seat on the passenger's side.

Once you were both buckled in and you were on your way to the pet store, you went back and forth trying to come up with puppy names. You finally decided on (puppy name of choice), which made both of you happy. You also discussed training the dog and taking him on walks and runs, but you reminded Bucky that the poor dog would never be able to keep up with him. To this he simply laughed and nodded in agreement.

You finally pulled up to a little pet shop a few blocks from your house. It was a quiet little place, but it was a wonderland for any animal lover. They had every kind of pet you could ever want and more. You giddily hopped out of the car, grabbing Bucky by his metal hand and dragging him into the store. You heard his light laughter from behind you, which only brightened your smile.

You opened the door. A light tinkling of a bell came back to you as a greeting, and you were met with the sight of animal care products and animals themselves. You could hear a guinea pig squealing in the distance, and a Dalmatian puppy had just gotten a new toy from the sound of his high pitched barking. You knew your eyes were wide with joy, and you were frozen in the door of the shop.
