Requested by @KrissiJones, here is the Jefferson soulmate AU for everyone to enjoy! Hope this is alright, I scoured the internet for a good soulmate AU and ended up just making up my own because I didn't like the ones I found, sorry it took so long!

ALSO: you can hop the Storybrooke border because you have a soulmate in Storybrooke. Love can break the curse, and the soulmate bond is the strongest love of all. This isn't really logic, it's bullcrap I came up with so its easier for me to write. I haven't seen OUAT in a while so leave me alone I don't remember much

You hadn't known him for long. Moreover, you hadn't believed in him for long. He had been with you for a while, but you had written him off as a figment of your imagination, conjuring up the perfect guy for you every night. Honestly, you weren't even sure what he looked like. You met him every night in the most inconspicuous place possible.

You met him in your dreams.

You hadn't told anyone about this mystery man that seemed to pop up in every single one of your dreams. He would even appear in nightmares and he would help save you from whatever evil was trying to harm you in them. You were in love with this man, but one of the biggest issues with him was that you could never see his face.

It wasn't like you were picky about looks. You definitely cared more about his personality than anything, but he kept promising you he was real and that you would meet one day very soon. What if you had already met and you just didn't know it was him?

It took you a couple months to finally give in to his scheme that he was in fact a real person. No one would really blame you, as this was the sign of a soulmate bond, and less than 1% of the world's population actually has a soulmate. The thought that you might be one of the lucky few was unfathomable.

"So, what is it like where you live?" You asked him as you sat across from him cross legged on the floor. Your tone was soft and carefree, just like you felt when you were with him. You heard him chuckle lightly, and it was like music to your ears.

"It's a small town. Everyone knows everyone and their cousin here. And more than anything, it's frustrating. I know I don't belong here, but I just can't leave," he replied. You tilted your head to the side.

"I wish I could come see you..." You murmured sadly. He sighed.

"I wish I could see you too, but you know that every time we try to tell each other where we are or who we are, we wake up. And I don't want to leave you yet tonight," he reminded you, shuffling towards you and pulling you onto his lap. You gave a content sigh and nestled your face into his neck. You felt warm and safe in his arms, like usual. Only this time, there was something a little different.

On his neck, you saw a scar appear. Your eyes widened and you pulled away slightly to look at it. You trailed your fingers along the raised skin that circled his entire neck in confusion.

"What's wrong, love?" He asked you in concern. You shook your head slightly in disbelief.

"Y-Your neck... I can see a scar..." You told him. You heard him take in a sharp breath and his muscle tensed. "I.... How is this happening?" You could never make out anything about each other. it was a method of ambiguity. The universe wanted you to know you had a soulmate, but it never wanted you to know who.

You felt his Adam's apple jump as he gulped. His breaths were shaky as your hands ran along his neck. "I don't know. I've never heard of this happening before," he answered honestly.

"Neither have I. Maybe this means we will see each other soon?" You wondered aloud hopefully. Your soulmate shrugged.

"I'm not sure, maybe. Well now that you're one step closer to figuring out who I am, I wonder when I'll get a clue as to who you are," he hummed, pulling you back against him. You kept your one hand against his neck as a reminder that he was real, and he was out there.
