"Maddox, let me-" Steve protested but Maddox ducked under his arm and went running straight for Brent.

"Did you just ditch your bodyguard?" Brent asked, between kisses.

"I love you more than life," Maddox joked. The only danger in the airport that day was from their fans and though he knew they might accidentally hurt him, Maddox was sure he could handle it.

"I missed you too," Brent smiled. "It's been a long 5 days."

"Yes it has."

Christmas was great, despite learning Emily's sad story, but as much fun as Maddox had he missed Brent too much. Knowing they wouldn't get to spend much time together before he left on tour didn't help either.

"Would you be okay if we didn't really do anything big for New Year's?" Maddox asked as they rode from the airport back to Maddox's house.

"Would you?" Brent laughed. "I'd be perfectly happy putting you to bed early."

"I already invited Eli and Logan but I don't know if I want anyone else to come over. Maybe we could just hang out the four of us."

"Sounds great. You know I've never seen this house before."

"I know," Maddox was actually a little nervous as he got out of the car. Even though at first he'd only planned to die in the house, Maddox had spent a lot of energy trying to make it perfect and exactly his style so no one would suspect that, especially not his mother who'd insisted on helping him. Since he'd decided to live he'd actually grown to really love it and he hoped Brent would like it too.

Brent was quiet as Maddox showed him through the house which only made Maddox more nervous. They'd only gotten as far as the kitchen when Brent grabbed Maddox's hand.

"Wait, just stop," Brent hugged him. Maddox hugged him back, not sure what the problem was. A few seconds later he felt his shoulder getting wet.

"Are you crying?" Maddox whispered. Brent nodded. "Why?"

"I'm sorry," Brent whispered. He wiped his face on Maddox's shirt and stood up. "I was so afraid it would be sad, like I would just know what you planned to do here."

"It was a long time ago."

"Not even a year ago," Brent protested. "But it's not like that at all, Dax, it's so nice. It feels like home."

"So those were happy tears?"

"Yeah, relief I guess," Brent nodded. "And I want this designer to come decorate our apartment, I don't even care how much that would cost."

"I did most of it," Maddox grinned. "I'm not sure you can afford me."

"I'll happily spend the rest of my life paying you off," Brent laughed and leaned in to kiss him.

"Do you want to see the rest of the house?"

"Just our bedroom. But I guess we don't even have to go to our room here, do we? I could have you right here."

"You could," Maddox smirked. "Unless I take you first."

"Oh, right we'll see about that."

In the end Maddox won, though he had a feeling Brent let him win. Ultimately he was too distracted to care.

"I'm suddenly really glad I had the heated floors put in," Maddox said after, sitting with his back against the cabinet.

"I bet this isn't how you thought you'd use them," Brent laughed and stood up. "Come shower with me."
