"Okay, then I just need your signatures here, here, and here," the lawyer pointed. Maddox looked at Brent and took a deep breath before he picked up the pen.
"Oh my god, smile," Brent laughed. "This is really exciting."
"I know, it's also kind of scary," Maddox laughed too.
"Yeah, but mostly exciting," Brent took the pen from Maddox and signed on the line next to where Maddox had signed.
"Perfect," the lawyer said. "Now all I'll need is for you to send me a copy of your marriage certificate when you get it and name change documents if you decide to do that. Otherwise you're all set for now. Congratulations you two."
"Thank you," Maddox was looking at the smile on Brent's face. "I love you."
"I love you too," Brent leaned in to kiss him.
"You're going to have to stop smiling like that or someone's going to figure out what we've done," Maddox accused as they left the lawyer's office.
"No one will ever know," Brent insisted. "Besides, you're smiling like an idiot too."
"I seriously can't believe we just did that," Maddox shook his head. "Are we crazy?"
"Crazy in love."
"You know," Steve spoke up. "I hate to ruin this perfect moment in your family history but we have a flight to catch."
"Come on," Maddox pulled Brent closer and led him to the car. "Let's get out of here before anyone catches us and starts asking questions."
"Deal," Brent nodded, ducking into the back seat of the darkly tinted van they'd rented so no one would recognize anyone's cars while they were in L.A. for the day. Brent needed to get his cast taken off so for Maddox's day off they'd flown home for a few hours to visit the doctor. Maddox had surprised Brent with a trip to see their lawyer.
"So are you going to tell me what you've done or are you going to force me to guess?" Steve asked.
"Nope," Maddox grinned at Brent.
"Oh, okay, sure, you two just make out the whole trip," Steve rolled his eyes.
"That sounds like a great idea, actually," Brent laughed and leaned in to kiss Maddox.
They got to Portland just in time for dinner that night. Eli, Hunter, and a few of the dancers came with them but Maddox stayed close to Brent the whole time. Anytime he could Maddox made sure Brent had his arm around him or was holding his hand.
"You were so quiet at dinner," Brent said when they got to their hotel room for the night.
"I just have a lot on my mind. As always," he rolled his eyes.
"You're not having second thoughts about earlier, are you?"
"No, definitely not," Maddox smiled at Brent. "It's the only part of today I know I'll never regret."
"Good, me too," Brent smiled back. "I love you so much, Maddox, I'm so excited."
"I am too, I wish," Maddox stopped himself. "Nevermind, it's perfect."
"And your sisters will be here tomorrow."
"I know," Maddox sighed. "I can't wait to see them. I hate being away from them, like you'd think I wouldn't care so much since they're older and Kylie has her own family and stuff but I still feel like I have to take care of them."
"I miss my sister too, Dax, I get it," Brent smiled. "It's really sweet."
"You would take care of them, right? I mean like, if something happened while I was gone?"
