"Did I wake you up?" Jessica laughed as Maddox let out an enormous yawn just as she appeared on his iPad.
"Yep," Maddox admitted. "Look, now you've seen me in my pajamas too."
"Boys don't wear pajamas," Jessica rolled her eyes.
"I do when I'm alone or at someone else's house," Maddox moved the screen so she could see he was wearing a shirt and sweatpants.
"Why are you alone? Where's Brent?" Jessica demanded.
"He didn't come home last night," Maddox sighed. "But it's only 6 here so he should be home any minute."
"What? He shouldn't be doing that," Jessica insisted. "I don't like the new Complexx. They used to be super nice and now they're just acting stupid."
"They're so much happier, it's worth putting up with some of the bullshit," Maddox shrugged. He yawned again. "You look happy too. How's the new hospital?"
"It's really nice. Look, Dax, I'm growing hair!"
"That's awesome," Maddox smiled. Right before Christmas, Jessica moved to a special hospital across the country where she could see better doctors for her specific kind of cancer. It meant Maddox didn't get to visit her anymore but he'd agreed they could FaceTime a couple times a week, even if it meant he had to get up super early to do it.
"Yeah, and I'm allowed to eat more food," Jessica added. "Just like rice and stuff but it's better than jello."
"You're making me hungry," Maddox laughed.
"Call Brent and make him bring you food," Jessica frowned. "I'm so mad at him, he should be with you."
"Whatever, in just two more weeks we'll be married and then he'll have to spend every single night with me for the rest of our lives," Maddox grinned.
"I can't believe it's just two weeks away!" Jessica clapped her hands. "Did I tell you about my dress?"
"Yes, you've showed me twice," Maddox reminded her. He actually didn't care if Jessica showed him again. The fact that she was still alive and coming to the wedding made him so happy he'd have let her show him the dress every day if she wanted.
Maddox couldn't believe the wedding was only two weeks away either. He and Brent had been planning since October and the closer their wedding day got the more Maddox felt like it was all just some strange dream. Some of the time he felt like he and Brent were already married since they'd been living together for so long. Other times he felt like getting married was going to change everything.
"Are there going to be tons of famous people there?"
"Well, everyone in Brent's band is coming and they get to bring their girlfriends and boyfriend."
"So I'll get to meet an actual Victoria's Secret Angel?" Jessica gasped. Tyler's girlfriend had just gotten a contract to work for Victoria's Secret before the last fashion show.
"Yep, and you'll get to meet Cole."
"He's so hot it's not fair," Jessica sighed. "Who else?"
"My friend Trevor is coming," Maddox tried to think of who else had said they could be there. "I feel like I'm going to forget everyone you care about, there are over 800 people who said they would be there."
"This is better than going to any concert or awards show," Jessica insisted. Maddox heard the door open downstairs.
"Oh, I think my fiancé is home," Maddox watched as Twink jumped off the bed and hurried out to the top of the stairs. He wagged his tail but came right back to Maddox. "No, just kidding, it's only Hunter."
