Wes double checked to make sure the hall was empty before he shut his bedroom door. He already had his laptop open and Facetime up. While he waited, Wes kept working on his homework so it wouldn't look like all he had to do was wait around for Luke to call.

Really, all Wes ever did anymore was wait for Luke. He thought about him from the time he woke up until - well, sometimes he even dreamed about Luke so going to sleep didn't necessarily mean he stopped. Now that he wasn't so careful anymore, now that Wes let himself think about whatever he wanted it seemed like there was only one thing he could think about.

But Luke was really busy and Wes wasn't. Between his piano lessons and after-school activities it never felt like Luke had enough time to talk to him. Wes tried not to let it bother him but it was hard feeling like he didn't matter to Luke anywhere near as much as Luke mattered to him.

Not that Luke had any idea Wes cared about him. They were friends, that much they'd agreed on. And they texted a lot, more than Wes ever texted his girlfriend, but Luke didn't know that. Slowly they'd moved on to Facetiming each other and now they did it pretty much every day when Luke got home and had time before dinner.

"Hey," Luke said when Wes accepted his call. "What are you working on?"

"Bio," Wes made a face. "We just started genetic squares."

"I love those," Luke said. "They're fun."

"You think?" Wes sighed. "I hate them. Want to do them for me?"

"I can help, if you want," Luke said.

"If I get stuck, I'll ask," Wes decided. "I like that shirt."

"It's just my football t-shirt," Luke looked down.

"Yeah, but that color looks good on you," Wes shrugged. He went back to his worksheet.

"Are you coming to weight training this spring? For football, I mean?" Luke asked. Wes looked at him. Luke was biting his lip in the most adorable way. It got him every time.

"I want to, but will it be weird if I do?" Wes asked.

"No, just come," Luke said.

"Make me," Wes said before he could stop himself. Luke raised his eyebrows and looked behind him "Sorry, I shouldn't have-" Wes started to apologize. It looked like Luke was in his room alone but he didn't know if the door was open.

"No, I walked right into that," Luke said. "It's okay, I, um," Luke bit his lip again. "I would."

"You would what?" Was was confused for a second. Then he remembered. "Oh, really? Would you?" he tried not to smile.

"Yeah," Luke nodded. "I'd do it better than your stupid girlfriend at least."

"She and I don't do that stuff," Wes said.

"Oh," Luke smiled.

"Why are you smiling?" Wes asked but he started to smile too.

"I don't know," Luke shrugged. "I guess I'm just happy."

"Cause I'm not getting any?" Wes joked.

"Hey, I'm not either," Luke said. "But I guess so, yeah. I don't want you to get it from her."

"Why not?" Wes asked. Luke smiled even more.

"You know why not," Luke said.

"No, I don't," Wes said. He knew what he hoped Luke's answer was, but he didn't know for sure. Wes hadn't even told Luke he was gay. Not really. Luke seemed to have figured that out but they'd never talked about it.
