"I brought you a surprise," Maddox peeked into Jessica's hospital room that afternoon. She raised her eyebrows at him and Maddox went in, holding Brent's hand.
"Oh my god," Jessica gasped. "Maddox, I don't have makeup on!"
"Neither do I," Maddox laughed. He pointed Brent toward the bottle of hand sanitizer before he could go over and hug Jessica. "Where's your mom today?"
"She had to work," Jessica shrugged. "So she doesn't lose our insurance."
"Got it," Maddox sat down in his usual chair. He'd made sure to come see Jessica every time he visited Wesley.
"Maddox told me I just had to meet you," Brent gave her a big hug.
"He should have warned me. Oh well. I've only been asking him forever if I could meet you."
"He's only been home a week," Maddox told her, pulling a chair over for Brent to sit in. Brent sat down and took Maddox's hand.
"Aw, you look like a picture," Jessica pointed at their hands. "I wish you two could make your own babies they'd be perfect."
"Pretty sure that's why we can't," Maddox squeezed Brent's hand. "The world isn't ready."
"So true," Jessica nodded. "Maddox said he's never making another album, can you make him make me one?"
"He won't even make me one," Brent laughed. "But maybe you can talk him into it."
"I'm dying and that's not good enough," Jessica rolled her eyes.
"We talked about this," Maddox reminded her. He'd felt a little weird at first telling Jessica she should try to live longer but since he'd first met her the doctors actually said she wasn't getting worse for the first time since they'd brought her into the hospital. It didn't mean much but she'd already lived longer than the three weeks she'd told Maddox she had to live so he didn't see anything wrong with it anymore.
"What if I agree not to die after your concert?"
"Since I'm not doing a concert then you're already set."
"Ugh, I hate you," Jessica huffed. "Brent you should make him keep working."
"I can't make Maddox do anything," Brent laughed.
"I dunno, sometimes you're pretty persuasive," Maddox smirked at him. Brent grinned back, looking a little shy.
"Are you gonna have sex today?" Jessica looked back and forth at the two of them.
"We already did," Maddox grinned. "In the shower this morning. It was really good."
"Babe," Brent scolded, looking scandalized that Maddox was talking about it.
"Ahh, did it hurt?" Jessica looked way too happy to understand what she was asking.
"I don't know, did it?" Maddox looked at Brent. Brent gave him a look and Maddox squeezed his hand. "That's a yes. But he liked it."
"Dax!" Brent gasped.
"Eeek, I love you guys," Jessica clapped her hands. "When are you getting married?"
"Soon," Maddox insisted. "What about you?"
"Never," Jessica sighed. "I threw up during our group session. Right in front of Damien."
"And Damien's never thrown up before?" Maddox laughed. Jessica had finally told him she had a crush on a boy in her support group.
"I've seen Maddox throw up more times than I can count," Brent made a face. "It's not cute. And I still love him."
