"Maybe we don't need a new assistant," Maddox sighed.

"You need an assistant," Eli nodded. "This guy will be here first," he slid a copy of a resume across the table to Maddox, his new engagement ring shining under the office lights. It had been almost two weeks since Hunter proposed and of course Eli had said yes.

"We definitely need at least one," Brent agreed. He had his arm draped over Maddox's chair and looked over his shoulder at the resume.

"Eli and I already spent hours narrowing down all the applications to these 6," Hunter spread the resumes on the tabletop. "They're really the best."

"Have you met all of them?" Maddox made a face.

"Yes, and they're all really good," Eli insisted. "It just comes down to who you'll get along with enough to want them in your life."

"This guy sounds okay," Brent kissed Maddox's shoulder.

"So are you ready?" Hunter stood up.

"Fine, yeah, let's do this," Maddox nodded. "Unless Eli wants his job back. I'll double your current pay."

"Don't tempt me," Eli laughed and motioned for Hunter to go get the first person.

It took them hours to talk to everyone but they made it through all 6 interviews and by the end Maddox actually didn't feel so bad about having to give up Hunter.

"So, what are you thinking?" Hunter asked after the last person left.

"I really liked one guy," Maddox flipped through his notes. "Jordan."

"Me too, I could handle having him around all the time," Brent agreed. "And I might just start running the heat or something so maybe he'll have to work without his shirt on."

"Wow, you're really going to get us sued someday," Maddox shook his head.

"Whatever, if he's going to work for us he should just get used to it," Brent shrugged.

"Maybe you should pick a second choice in case you scare him off immediately," Eli suggested. "I thought this Amy girl would handle anything you could put her through."

"You say that like it's hard to work for us," Maddox frowned. "Are we bad bosses?"

"No, but," Hunter and Eli looked at each other. "You're not bad, it's just that, uh."

"It's hard work," Eli interrupted. "It's not the same thing every day, you never really know what might happen next. And you're good people and easy to get along with and I know Hunter and I both love you but that's kind of what makes it hard too cause like, I don't know, I just want to see everything work out for you and so bad stuff happens and it sucks for us too, not just you."

"I get that," Brent rubbed Maddox's back. "We love you guys too. And I'm bummed I won't get to wake up to your sexy voice anymore," he grinned at Hunter.

"I'll make a recording of it for you," Hunter shook his head. "Alright, so I'll get Jordan to start next week so I can train him before I go."

"We'll be on our best behavior," Maddox promised.

"Alright, I have to go," Brent kissed Maddox's cheek and Maddox turned to kiss him. "See you for dinner."

"Bye," Maddox smiled at him. "Guess I should go back to my shopping."

"Dax, really?" Eli tilted his head.

"What else do I have to do?" Maddox shrugged. "The house is not going to decorate itself."
