"Brent, your puppy is crying," Maddox groaned. Sophie had been fussing for a few minutes.

"Mhmm," Brent was still almost completely asleep.

"Fine, I'll get her," Maddox sighed and flipped back the covers. He opened Sophie's crate door but she wouldn't come out. "Come on, Soph, you wanna go out?" he asked. Next to the crate, Twink sighed and got up. Sophie pressed herself against the back wall of the crate, shaking. "Babe, she won't come out."

"Just pick her up."

"Come here," Maddox reached into the crate and picked Sophie up. She kept crying and started shaking like she was terrified of Maddox. "Shh, you're okay," he insisted.

Maddox took the dogs outside, slipping his sunglasses on so he wouldn't have to completely wake up. He yawned and looked around. The backyard was set up for Eli and Hunter's wedding the next day.

When he took the dogs back inside, Maddox crawled on top of Brent so he could kiss him awake.

"Babe, I don't have to work until 2," Brent protested.

"I know," Maddox kept kissing him. "But I could make you breakfast."

"I'm not hungry," Brent turned his head. Maddox kissed his neck. "Aw, you left Sophie on the floor," Brent picked up the little dog.

"She's a dog, dogs walk on the floor."

"She's my baby."

"Fine," Maddox ignored Sophie and went back to kissing Brent's neck. "Do you need a different kind of wake up?"

"Dax," Brent protested as Maddox slid his hand down Brent's stomach. "Just let me sleep."

"Please?" Maddox grinned and went to nip at Brent's ear. Sophie growled at him, showing her teeth.

"Aww, princess," Brent laughed but Sophie kept growling.

"That's not cute," Maddox rolled his eyes and kissed Brent's cheek. Sophie pounced and snapped at his cheek, her tiny teeth sinking into Maddox's face. "Ow, fuck!"

"Oh, no," Brent shoved Sophie off the bed. "Babe, let me see."

"It's fine," Maddox sighed, slipping off Brent so he could sit up. Brent sat up to look.

"I'm sorry," Brent leaned over to kiss the spot. "She didn't understand."

"She hates me."

"She doesn't hate you," Brent laughed.

"I think she does," Maddox insisted, rubbing his cheek.

"No, Sophie doesn't hate anyone, she's a puppy," Brent bent over to pick her up again. He put her in Maddox's lap but Sophie wouldn't stay there and hopped right into Brent's lap.

"See," Maddox gave Brent a look. His phone started to go off. "Ooh, Mom lost track of Scarlett."

"I'm surprised she doesn't lose one of those kids every day," Brent laughed as Maddox picked up his phone to answer Scarlett's Facetime call. After Scarlett had learned to Facetime on her own they'd had to make rules about when she was allowed to call so she didn't sit there calling Maddox nonstop all day.

"Hi, Baby Girl."

"Dax, can you come play? Wes doesn't want to be a fairy princess. He and Aiden want to play outside."

"I am not a good princess," Maddox laughed.

"He's the best princess I know," Brent leaned over Maddox's shoulder.
