Pov: North Taylor

My eyes connect with Silas's as he holds tight to the small girl in his arms. She trembles and he tightens his hold. Glancing to Victor I can see him visibly pale as Sang shakes and I cant help but frown. She needed to get stronger. The longer we sat in one place the quicker Avery and the bastard who hurt Sang could find us. We needed to move.

Glancing to Kota, his eyes flicker to mine for a moment before they widen and he nods his head to the stairs. Leading the way, I skip steps as we move into my bedroom. Kota follows along with my brother and Nathan. Sitting on the edge of my bed, I meet those dark green eyes and they widen then narrow.

"What are you thinking?" He asks leaning against the wall as he takes off his glasses. These green eyes fall upon me as he rubs the lenses with his shirt and I know he is serious.

"She needs to be trained." I state easily and glance to Luke whose eyes widen and he moves to the door closing it so that others cant hear. Glancing back to Kota, his eyes are now closed and his glasses back on. He is struggling with his thoughts causing his eyebrows to dip.

"I dont like it, but I agree." My eyes dart to Nathan sitting on the floor his hands in his hair. His brown eyes meet mine and I nod. "She needs to be able to defend herself. She can choose her path later on but right now she can be very helpful."

I nod agreeing and glance to Luke who is still by the door. His silly manner gone. "I agree as long as we start after she is better." I almost feel as though my breath is lost. He was serious.

Hearing movement, I instantly look back to find Kota standing. "I agree as long as it is after she is rested but we must speak with the others. It must be unanimous." He shifts from his place and I nod standing from my place.

Following Kota back down the stairs, my eyes widen to find a very pale Victor in the kitchen with Dr. Green right beside him. "Vic!" I yell out worried for my brother whose brown eyes flick to me before turning away. Feeling anger burn in my chest, I blow past Silas but run straight into Mr. Blackborne.

"Mr. Taylor, calm yourself." Mr. Blackbourne orders unhappily and my eyes widen. But the shock passes quickly and my anger returns.

"What happened?!" I yell and Victor appears from behind Mr. B his eyes quiet and filled with pain.

"My mother called to scream." He states and then moves from behind Mr. B toward the couch. Something about the air around him has changed. It is as though he pulled away.

My eyes follow him to the couch as he picks up the small trembling figure. Instantly my eyes widen and pain radiates through my chest. Sang.

Me and my fucking stupid volume. She had been in the room and could easily hear the yelling. God damn!

Her body shakes hard but she adjusts to Victors touch almost instantly. And Victor relaxes entirely as though nothing had ever happened. An overwhelming sense of doubt and jealousy takes over. They had connected in a way we hadn't yet.

"North Star." Her voice cuts through the tension easily settling all of my doubts. "Can I see your room?" It is clear she is changing the topic of conversation but I don't mind at all.

"Of course Baby." I state easily and Victor smiles carrying her over to me. Easily taking the small bundle, my eyes narrow and I glance to Silas who moves to the kitchen to make food.

"North Star, you leave people out of the conversation when you speak silently." Sang states and I can feel my eyes bug out slightly not believing what this small girl is saying. Looking up to confirm my surprise with Victor instead my eyes widen even more to meet a slightly depressed brother.

Had she been talking about him?

Confused, I stand there for a moment before moving forward and placing a hand on his shoulder. Giving him a gentle look, I see a small smile form before I slowly carry Sang up the stairs to my room. Silently I make a mental note to talk with Victor later.

Carrying Sang into my room, I cant help but feel as though I should clean up. Throwing my dirty clothes into the bathroom, I gently lay Sang down into my spot on the bed. My eyes watch her curiously as she curls up into a small ball.

Moving to her side, I slowly run my fingers up and down her arm before moving them to her side. Feeling her breathing even in relaxation, I cant help but smile. "How are you feeling?" I whisper and my eyes narrow slightly as she shrugs.

"Sang what's wrong?" I whisper placing my hand on her forehead and my eyes widen realizing how warm she is. Scooping her up, I slip under her and guide her toward my chest. My hand cradles her back as she slowly rests against my chest.

"Just a little tired." She whispers softly and I gently caress her cheek. My eyes are completely trained on her every movement and I realize just how fragile a girl is. Don't get me wrong, I had met a ton of birds before that can hold their own and I actually prefer them usually but this girl. She had a complete innocence about her.

I knew all of the hardship she had been through and yet she was so easily able to bare her sole to me. To show her weak state without embarrassment. To speak her mind even when in a tough situation. To even put herself in a situation in order to protect someone.

This bird was no ordinary girl.
