Chapter 91: Protective Momma Bear

POV: Corey

My chest heaves as I do my best to control the coughing that raises into my chest. I had only wanted to get a drink of water to ease my sore throat but instead I am curled up in strong arms and a warm chest. Not that I should be complaining but this was exactly what I was trying to avoid. Extra attention. Feeling the counter under me, I can feel Raven slowly release his hold on me but not move away. Nervous I slowly look up to meet the worried and angry eyes of Raven. Wanting to explain, the male just shakes his head and grabs a small cup from the side of the sink and fills it with water before handing it to me. Managing a small smile, I take the cup with shaky hands and take a small sip.

Swallowing the warm liquid, I almost drop the glass if not for Raven cupping my hands. "It's okay." He whispers leaning forward and placing a soft kiss on my neck. "Next time you wake me up." Surprised, I meet his eyes as he pulls back. He was worried that I hadn't been there when he had been waken up. Unable to hold back my relief I nod dropping my head onto his chest as he slowly rubs my sides keeping me steady.

The moment ends, however, as there is a soft knock on the door and Sean and Axel both step into the room. Instantly becoming protective, Raven steps in front of me hiding me from view. "Wait by the bed. Axel grab me one of my shirts." The other's quickly move and I shiver as Raven turns back around.

"Nice and easy." Raven whispers rubbing my sides and I nod clearing my throat with a wince as Axel steps back into the room. Quickly grabbing the shirt, I send a small thank you Axel's way as Raven helps me into it before lifting me once more. Tucked into his chest, I don't bother to argue not feeling well and just watch as I am brought over to the bed.

Raven sits down first before guiding me to sit on his lap and I can't help but blush as Sean moves into sight. "It's okay. I kinda expected as much." He states and I nod a little glancing to Raven who doesn't move keeping his hands on my sides. "North is the exact same way with Sang." Sean states gathering his bag and taking a couple of items out of it. I blush uncontrollably did he just compare Raven and I to North and Sang?

Spotting the small smile on Sean's lips, I straighten a little wanting to talk but instead end up coughing again. Instantly I feel the hands on my sides tighten as another set of hands rush to touch my chest and then up to my throat. Thankfully the hands on my throat disappear quickly and I am tucked back into Raven's chest for comfort. 

"He is warm Doc." Raven responds shifting me as I rest my head on his bare chest.

"I know Raven. Give me a second. I have some medicine here he can take. That cough is going to last a while though." Sean responds as I hear shifting and I glance toward Axel who looks concerned.

Forcing myself to swallow the terrible tasting medicine, the burn travels all the way down my throat making me want to cough even more. Almost instantly a hand is caressing my cheek and down to my throat. Shivering, I peal open my eyes to glance at Raven whose hard eyes are soft and worried. Managing a small smile, I close my eyes once more to tired to focus and just listen. "Anything we can do Doc?" Axel questions as Raven shifts me closer to his chest. Lightly resting a hand on his bare chest, I shift coughing.

"Raven will probably be the best bet." Sean states over my cough. Feeling the burning amplify I shift moving forward coughing harder this time. Almost instantly Raven is shifting me on his lap so that my back is on his chest. Doubling over, I feel his large calloused hand press firmly on my chest as I struggle.

"Doc!" Raven growls loudly and I flinch feeling another set of hands on me. Forcing my tearing eyes open, I struggle trying my best to get in a small breath of air. The pain burns my throat with every cough but it is the terrible itching sensation in the back of my throat that forces me to keep coughing. Trying to focus my watery eyes, Doc is completely in front of me his eyes wide with worry as he presses a hand on my upper chest very close to my neck.

"Corey stop panicking. It's okay." Sean whispers his eyes searching my own as his fingers shift around my chest and neck. But it the large muscular hand of my lover that helps me calm as he presses me against his warm bare chest. Swallowing back coughs, I let out a soft whimper before basically collapsing back into Raven.  I hear the male move closer before flinching as a hand touches my throat.

"Easy." Raven whispers directly into my ear and I manage a small nod as the fingers continue to move. I can feel Raven shift protectively under me as Sean carefully checks over my very sore body. I had never been sick before but I had watched Raven react to both Axel and Marc being ill. A mother bear was an understatement as far as describing him.

"His body is fighting a cold." Sean states simply breaking my thoughts as his hands move to my forehead which probably burns with a fever. "Rest is important and fluids. We don't want this to get worse."

"I've got it covered Doc." Raven whispers and i spot Sean beginning to object when Axel catches his shoulder.

"Let us know what you need."
