__Sara Pov__
The last three days that I spent on Gai's team were full of training. We worked on combinations both with and without me being on the team. Though we didn't go on a large mission we did go on a few smaller ones like pulling weeds from a rice field or raking leaves from some rich lady's huge yard. Gai and Lee turned those into training, and Lee tried to make it a competition of sorts. Lee won of course because nobody else actually tried to win.
I had gotten used to the timing with my new jutsu as a result of all the training. I also feel like sparing with Lee, though tiring, made me a lot faster. I also used those three days to work on the bow, in another day or two it would be done.
On the last day of training with Gai's team I ran into Shika on my way home.
"Hey Sara," he walked over to me calmly, hands in his pockets.
"Oh, how are you pinapple? Any good missions this week?"
"Nah, just the same old. From the talk of Gai's team though it sounds like you had an adventure. Care to share?" We fell in step together and headed off to my house. As we walked I related the tale to him, when I got to the part of how we attacked the bandits he payed closer attention. He nodded at my tactics, approving.
By the end of the story we had arrived at my house. "So, do you want to come in or are you in a hurry home?" I asked politely. I wasn't entirely sure what answer I wanted. I mean, I liked Shika's company, but I don't want him to ask about that dream I had in the hospital.
He glanced at the sky. "Yeah, I can hang out for an hour or so," he finally decided.
"Well then, come on in. The kids are probably out back, I'll grab snacks for us all... And before you ask, no they aren't rice balls again." I walked into the house and the kitchen, while there I grabbed some of the bread I had gotten from Mayu's store yesterday setting slices of ham to the side.
When I came out onto the porch Shika looked up at me. "Something tells me that you made neither of those foods yourself," he teased in a monotone voice.
"Shut up pinapple, it doesn't have to be homemade to be a snack."
"Whatever."
We sat in silence for a while, watching the kids as they practiced. While I had helped them earlier in their training now they were at the point they should do it on their own. Practice makes permenent after all.
"Do you want to play the question game?" Shika asked suddenly, breaking the mood.
I hesitated at this, but it was Shika so I hesitantly let out, "Yes?" making it sound like a question.
The questions we threw back and forth were harder than before, we would question eachother on tactics and stratigies, what a good trap would be in different situations, even the different note-worthy ninja clans in the world. Eventually though it did lead to what had happened in the hospital.
"Why did you look so pale at that time?" he came out and asked.
I hesitated over my answer, "Well... I had just woken up from a nightmare," it wasn't the whole truth, but I hoped it sufficed.
"What was the nightmare?" he asked before I could get out more.
"I um... was running through a forest and... I was about to be hit," still wasn't a complete lie.
He sighed in slight exasperation, "why don't you trust me enough to tell me the whole truth? No, you aren't lying, but you definitely aren't telling me everything. I won't leave until you do," he decided at the end.
