My write up for chapter 670 of Bleach is late, as I got a tad busy. It shan't though contain information revealed in one of the later chapters. Instead, I am going to go into detail regarding one of the reveals for this particular week, but also a theory I had, and a misconception regarding the Quincy. At the end of the chapter, Isshin and Ryuken show up.
Quite a bit ago I theorized that the Quincy did not originate from the world of the living, and were, in fact, a branch off of Shinigami. This theory, however, got quickly shot down due to what Tessai revealed regarding Quincy. According to his story, Quincy were humans, not souls, thus, there is no connection to Soul Society beyond the fact Quincy can see spirits.
Except, that's not true.
In this chapter, Ryuken reveals that the Quincy did indeed originate in Soul Society, that his own father came from there. A few people will probably be screaming right about now that this is a canon error, however, the fact Tessai's story was wrong does not in any way mean canon is wrong. The story he told was meant to be a red herring for the readers, to misdirect them, but the story is also something that would logically happen when information is lost, or certain people want certain information hidden. In other words, their origin story does not match up with what really went down.
Proof of this, I argued before, actually existed already within the canon material. Ichigo ended up finding himself naturally able to use the technique Blut once his Quincy blood was reawakened. Isshin, later on, reveals that only pure-blood Quincy can do this, indicating Ichigo is, in fact, himself a pure-blood Quincy. A few people at the time took this to mean that Juhabach's words about being Ichigo's father were true, but in reality, this was another red herring thrown into the series. Having a Shinigami father did nothing to taint Ichigo's Quincy blood, indicating there is some link between Shinigami and Quincy that is fundamentally different from Humans and Quincy.
What is that link?
Pure Quincy aren't humans, but souls that originated from Soul Society. An impure Quincy, or the Echt are ones that are half-soul, half-human. The question thus comes up whether a soul that has been trapped in a human body will go to Soul Society when they die, or if they'll reincarnate like regular souls do. This is a question though that may honestly never get an answer through the course of the series, as it's not really important to the plot, or seems to not be.
