So, going into season five I am open to the idea of Keith and Shiro not being biological siblings, yet I still love the headcanon. It's fun to work with. Starting the next season completely relaxed – kind of nice. It's something I still feel that, no matter what happens during season five is something which could possibly have been canon.
The Prisoner
Opening up, the first scene is actually I think something released at Comic Con?
Looking at Lotor who has purple skin and his teeth are more pointed, bringing me back to wondering if Keith is actually really true part Galra. People were also really excited about the clip of Allura flirting with Lance, yet I didn't think she was flirting. Lance's relation with her – she's not appreciative of him. Plot wise, things are slow as well. It was pretty cool finding out Sam was a commander, which doesn't really surprise me. I also figures out that is who they would be going after in this episode.
Suddenly, I'm wanting to ship Nyma with Matt. I love the fact Matt, although toughened up is still Matt and geeky. I'm not surprised their dad wasn't there, as Lotor did warn that he could be transferred at any time. But to use him as a prisoner exchange? I'm so glad Sam's not dead, but making him a pivotal plot point for this season.
Blood Duel
Title is honestly doesn't say much about what will happen. No surprised that Zarkon pulled a fast one either. This episode is the episode where Lance attempts to give orders which antis screamed would be a sign he would become black paladin, but guess what? Nobody listened to him, but his orders – they would have caused actual problems like I thought orders given by him would. He's just – maybe one day he'll have leadership potential, but not now. He'd have made a huge mess of things if Coran and Allura hadn't vetoed him.
I'm now thinking with Haggar saying to take Kuron to stage four, that the blood duel is Shiro deciding to take action - well, it's not really decided for him, as Haggar decides it. I honestly love the new dynamic given to her character. It doesn't get that far, and I love Shiro's plan, and yes, Lance does give a second order, but it kind of lessons the effect as every single one was prepared to shoot Lance down if it wasn't a good order. On top of this, what he orders honestly went without saying.
By the way, Sam is awesome. The Holt family is all sorts of awesome.
Zarkon's dead, so Lotor is free to do a double cross now?
Postmortem
Okay. Very creepy title.
Zarkon dying honestly doesn't fix things though. Coran has some kind of intestinal eel thing in his stomach now? WTF. Shiro's... wow.
I actually think he's right in his decision, but he is irritable. People say – oh, he's a clone. Except, that irritability can be tied to two things, Shiro's PTSD and the fact Keith's not around. Keith is the most important person in the world to him. Platonically, romantically, take your pick. However, it does seem like Haggar has plans for Shiro – that doesn't mean he's a clone. Actually, the fact she's using his brain to see her son and being a creepy stalker – yeah, that would set anyone on edge.
Holt's also going home, which makes sense. The attack also solidifies getting Lotor on the throne, even if he double crosses them is honestly in their best interest. The growth Lance is taken through is interesting, but definitely not the kind of growth antis wanted to see.
Krai Zera
So, the character speaking at the beginning of this episode is in Blade of Marmora garb, is an Earthling, yet doesn't sound like Keith. Or maybe I misheard? No, it does sound like Keith. The team is going against Shiro's leadership now as they don't agree with them. Except, I still agree with his decision? That is until Lotor starts spilling that he brought back the black lion. And poor Keith, getting caught up in the mess. Him crashing into Lotor coming out was absolutely adorable, but he is such a sweetheart.
And of course, Lotor can start planning his betrayal.
I've noticed Keith is – well, he's not interacting with the characters, which is to be expected considering his arc with BOM, but I really wish he'd return. I think though they're attempting to avoid certain conversations. Matt and Sam are for example, if Shiro and he are blood related most likely to talk about it, but if he's not really Galra, Lotor would blab it. He's referred to as Earthling, not half-breed, which is rather interesting.
Bloodlines
So, we get to finally meet Keith's mother nad she is most likely Galra. Because that's what the title indicates. Hunk mentions a "Jenny Shaybon or the other Jenny" and we learn his siblings are Marco, Luis, Veronica. Interestingly, there is no talk about Shiro's family. Just kicking Iverson's butt for strapping him to a table, meaning Keith is his family? After all, they did promise that we'd get to meet Shiro's family.
Krolia, she looks like she could be Keith's mother. However, if this is the case, she looks like she's part Galra, part Altean. How Punk gets to reprogram a robot to have fun is hysterical, but the two Galra guards aren't used to teens and the fun they like to have. Specifically, don't let paladins alone to do their own thing.
And sweet, sweet Keith being so dense. She kept saying she was his mother over and over again, but he didn't get it until she explicitly said so.
White Lion
Some people thought the white lion would be a new lion, yet this is more of what I expected. So, Lotor's probably used to pranks pulled by those he work with. I'm actually starting to want Lotor to have a redemption arc rather than make him turn coat on everyone, but he may still do this by the end of the episode. Of course, Lotor's victory or death comes back to bite him in the butt.
...
So...
I'm actually pretty sold on Shiro and Keith being family whether it be blood related or not. I actually find it interesting that Keith is left out of some pivotal points. For example, his mother appears to be half-Atlean – which is really not surprising as that was the only way I figured he would be part Galra. She's probably not the paladin of the blue lion as I suspected – the ones that came between. But as to why I suspected he was part Altean – he was in the previous canon material.
Shiro's family, they avoided bringing it up, but Keith is conveniently not around Matt and Shiro. Add to this, Shiro's not met Keith's mother yet, yet chances are he is going to next season. By Keith not being there at the special place, if he is meant to also carry the genetic trait Allura has, it is kept hidden. Are the definitely going to be blood related? I'm simply going to say it is a possibility, one which may or may not pan out.
As for Shiro being a clone, no. I don't think he is. I think Shiro is Shiro, but his mind is fogged up by Haggar's spell. Also, Keith's mother is gorgeous, but then I was kind of expecting that. Since Lotor said the genetic ability Allura has is what makes it possible for Alteans to change shape and size, chances are Keith does have the abilities Allura does. They may be reduced. The reason is, for Keith's mother to pass on Earth, she would need to indeed change at least the color of her skin.
And Keith, such a sweet heart. He didn't show up much, but his parts were super sweet. His obliviousness and social issues are adorable, but I don't think they're because of the Galra. Except, looking back, we never see confirmation that she is Keith's mother as Keith got cut off as did the answer, which is rather interesting. However, I say mother with the close resemblance.
Lance, honestly, his growth is definitely not going in the direction the antis want.
P.S. She may be half-galra half-altean, but I'm still going to work with my Altean headcanon, though to be honest, I think she looks far more amazing as half and half than either.
