I'm glad the Iceman series got canceled.

No, I'm not homophobic.

I felt there was too much SJW going on to facilitate the writer self-inserting themselves as the character they were writing. I never expected said series to last long – I mean, the only selling point for the series was that he was gay trying to be straight. When people say the only reason, they kept buying the series is because there was representation, you've got token representation.

Why not a new character? Why is it always a white man? Why is the change always an in the closet gay, and not bisexual? Why is it that a man who can't hold down a lasting relationship with a female must be gay? Why is it that a man who likes feminine things must be gay? Why is it that a person who has any of the stereotypical traits of a gay man must be gay?

Oh, and let's not forget the way he's revealed to be gay, but the fact there were already other characters. A publicity stunt is a publicity stunt, and three years later it's backfired on them.

To quote something from the Comic Vine forum thread, "Why Is Everyone Upset About The Gay Iceman?"

"Jean basically bullying him into acknowledging it makes it worse. She claims because he's had failed relationships, then he's gay. She's hardly one to talk."

Which is kind of ironic, as in X-Men Evolution she was actually a bully, but even the fact a guy character thinks another guy is hot, or even a female character thinking another female is hot – that doesn't mean the character is attracted to the same sex. But getting back to the irony – the way they did it means it can be written out as Jean bullying another person into thinking something he's not, which does happen.

No, seriously. It does happen.

Also, a political stunt is a political stunt.
