I don't yet know what to think of the Boruto Manga. The first chapter really started off with a major downer, not to mention the fact it is very unusual to start off with the end, or near end of the series in a Manga series. I think one of the times we do tend to see it is when the series is another part of a franchise, though, so it isn't out of the question. This series is also having to deal with all the unresolved issues from the older series.
I've actually no problems with Naruto being dead. The way the original series was set up was so Naruto would die a hero at some point in time; his mantra, after all, is that he'll succeed in his promises, or die trying. There were never any negative repercussions to this, and Naruto always won, so he never actually learned his limits. Naruto still has one-half of the Nine-Tails sealed in him, does he not? So if he died there would be major problems. The problem is, if Naruto died, then there are going to be a whole lot more characters who die, or there should be.
I'm not fond of the recount of old material, but I know why it is needed. Not everyone who reads the Manga actually watched the movies. This is also a way to showcase the differences in the two artists styles. I know there are people out there who dislike the new artists style, but I actually prefer it. If the small snapshot of Gaara is any indicator, we shouldn't have the hair style that made people upset so much in the prolog, and I also like Hinata's hair cut, as it makes her very cute. Naruto's hair style hasn't changed, but it looks like the locks flow more in line with his natural hairstyle than it did before. I could be wrong, though.
As for Sarada's clothing, I don't have a problem with it. There were a lot of people complaining when they saw the intro work, but I've got to say it actually makes sense. I'm not saying someone her age should dress that way, but it is the type of clothing girls her age would like to wear during this time and age, and fits her personality. I also felt the comments referring to her as a prostitute and such honestly went too far. I don't agree with women dressing that way period, but dressing that way does not make one a hussy. To me, it says more about the person saying those things than the actual artwork.
Naruto actually seems mature in this chapter, despite the fact he's using Shadow Clones to go to his child's birthday party still. That was one of the issues with the previous work released, that Naruto didn't really get to be shown as a leader type. This was to point some people pretty much said Naruto could shove his workload off onto other people, because that was his ninja way, and thus he could make changes as he saw fit, but things don't work that way. In fact, Naruto may have found the duties of Hokage to be more than he expected, as he sent a Shadow Clone to his child's birthday. Also, if I were to pick one thing I wanted to see corrected for the new series, it would be showing off Naruto as a leader, and how he's grown.
The series also looks to be going into a science versus magic situation, which honestly makes sense. I kind of wondered why more technology wasn't brought into the series, particularly long lost technology. The story feels though along the lines of how the sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender went down. This makes me guess Kawaki, the character introduced in this chapter, is a character who does not have chakra to control. Emphasises in this chapter is the fact anybody can become a ninja now, regardless of whether they can control chakra or not, or at least use various jutsu that only ninja could use.
So, here are my questions.
How does Naruto die?
I am going to guess at this point he goes out with a bang, and Kawaki has something to do with his death. There also may be a chance Naruto is alive, but Baruto doesn't know it.
Who are the Sand Sibs related to?
Because Shinki has the magnet release, he is likely related to Gaara in some manner, or the third Kazekage. Of course, if Gaara is related to the third Kazekage, this is a mute point. I'm guessing Gaara or Kanjuro is Shinki's father at this point. His mother is either the character introduced in Gaara: Hiden, or the fourth Tsuchikage. (This could have majorly positive effects for both villages, or very negative effects for both villages.) Kankuro is the father of Yodo, or she is not related to the Sand Sibs. Araya I'm guessing is the child of Temari and Shikamaru, or none of the Sand Sibs.
Who is Kawaki?
I was actually guessing he was related to Shinki, and before the series started up my brother and I discussed the idea of Kawaki being upset Shinki was favored by Gaara because Shinki has his fathers magnet release. Now though that I think those without Chakra control are going to become shinobi, it might have some issue with the fact Kawaki does not have any kind of Chakra control, and thus feels ostrasized in the shinobi community.
There is also a chance the questions will never ben answered. He does though look like he is majorly rebelling, similar to how Baruto is rebelling.
