"I could sleep for days." Alice said flopping down on her bed. "I could do the same." Lily said repeating Alice's actions and falling into her bed.
"You guys are being so groovy." Valerie said, laying down on her bed. "What does that mean?" Alice asked rather confused. "It's a muggle term, and you didn't use it in a sentence correctly." Lily said matter of factly. "Oh, well regardless I like it." Alice said "Yeah, I think it's-it's groovy." Valerie said with smirk as she knew it would annoy Lily to an extent.
"I swear." She said, looking up at the ceiling as if someone was going to help her.
"So what's the plan with Sirius this year?" Whispered Lily, as they were the only ones awake. "I don't know. Will you help me?" "No." She said sarcastically. As a retort, Valerie chucked a pillow at Lily, only to disturb Alice from her slumber.
"Guys, I don't know if you've noticed but there's people trying to sleep around here." "No,really?" Said Valerie. "Ah shut it." "Goodnight Allie." Lily said. "Goodnight."
As breakfast rolled around everyone was slumping into their seats tiredly, and soon headed off to their first class.
"What've you got this year Scott?" Sirius asked. "Divination." "Oh, I've got charms." He said sounding disappointed. "Well what do you have second?" "Astronomy." He replied. "Bugger, I've got double potions."
Sirius looked down at his shoes and said, "Well, I'll see you around yeah?" "Yeah."
"Awe, lover boy doesn't have the same schedule. How sad." Said James in a mock baby voice. "Shut it." He punched his arm. "You live under the same roof, it's not like your never going to see her again." Remus said. "Yeah, cheer up mate." James clapped him on the back.
"Ms. Scott, please look into the cup and tell me what you see." Professor Trelawney said. Valerie did as she was told and peered into the tea cup.
"I see a black dog." "Ah, must be the omen of the hellbound dog." "So my future has a hellhound black dog in it?" Valerie questioned. "It seems that way my dear." She said, her bug eyes leaving the cup.
"Now you my dear. She said signaling to Lily. Look into your cup." She peered into the cup, her fiery hair covering her face. "I see- I see a stag." "Oh, I see, I see." She said, not bothering to explain herself. Lily and Valerie exchanged looks of confusion, maybe even fear.
What is this mad woman talking about? A black dog? Hellhound? Why me?"
Class came to an end and Lily quickly made her way through the crowd to get to Valerie. She saw the worried expression on Valerie's face and tried to comfort her.
"She's mad, I don't know how or why Dumbledore hired her." Valerie nodded her head. "Dunno, maybe for a fresh face, I mean have you seen the other professors? The old bats."
The girls laughed and parted to head to their next class, only to run into Sirius.
"Val, hey." He said steadily. "Hey. What brings you here?" "Uh-class." He said signaling to the the classroom.
What brings you here? So stupid Valerie!
"Oh! Right-yeah." She responded awkwardly. Sirius chuckled at her spasms. "I'll see you?" "Yeah, yeah of course."
