"Well then, (Y/n), welcome to the flock." Iggy said.

"Yay!" Angel and Nudge cheered, hugging you.

"Woah, guys wait! They're hurt!" Max exclaimed, walking over to you to examine your arm. "Did an Eraser do that to you? Igg and Gazzy should have buried them under the rubble when they blew the place. We'll get you fixed up once we're back at the cave. Up and away." Max said, snapping out her wings as the other followed suit, and took off into the sky.

"You can fly next to me." Iggy said, his light gray wings unfolding behind him.

"And we'll fly behind you so you don't fall behind!" The little kids said.

It felt so amazing, being out in the open sky for the very first time. Feeling the wind push against your body and the cool air filtering between your feathers with each stroke. You closed your eyes, feeling the warmth of the suns rays on your skin and feathers. Tucking in your wings slightly, you felt the stomach jolting sensation of free falling, feeling the wind whip your hair in all directions. You snapped your wings open at the last moment and soared upwards, feeling the muscles in your wings stretch like they've never done before. It was amazing!

After half an hour, you were getting tired. Feeling exhausted and underfed, you started to sink towards the ground. "Max!" Nudge yelled, trying to hold onto you and keep you in the air. Then you felt arms scoop you up. You didn't know who it was, your eyes had drooped closed, and you tucked your wings in, making a mental note to thank whoever was carrying you when you woke up. Then you passed out.

You opened your eyes to the sight of food. It wasn't much, but it was food! You shot up and started eating. "Slow down or you'll puke it all back up." You heard a quiet voice. You looked up to see that Max was the only one awake. All the others were asleep in the back of the cave you were in. You hadn't realized that it was night.

"How long was I out?" You asked as you continued to eat, slower this time.

"About 12 hours." Max switched her gaze back outside.

You sat silently and finished eating, noticing that your arm was bandaged up. "Thank you."

"Don't sweat it."

"I can keep watch." You offered, quietly standing up.

"I'll do it. You can't fight."

"But I'm capable of waking people up!" You argued. "Plus, I'm not tired!"

"I said I'll do it."

"Alright." You decided to drop it. She was the leader after all. "Can I go fly, then? I won't go far."

Max turned to look at you, then turned back around to examine the ground and the sky. "Ya, sure. If there's any sign of danger, though, you fly your butt straight back in here and hide in the back of the cave. Got it?"

"Yup!" You said as you jumped off the edge of the cliff and let yourself fall towards the ground before snapping your wings open and soaring upwards, free of all care and worries, and, momentarily, your haunting memories of the labs. That is, until you saw a pack of wolf-men heading straight towards you and the cave.

A/n: Good cliff-hanger? Or does it not seem intense enough? Comments, anyone? ...See ya! :)
