"(Y/n)!" Total jumped up and down when the flock finally landed in front of an empty cabin. Running around your legs, you picked him up and he showered your face with his kisses. "I'm sorry! It was my fault! I thought you died!"
Angel pet the scotty dog's black fur soothingly. "Total, we told you, it wasn't your fault. You did everything you could."
"Thank you, Total." You hugged him. "I would have just frozen up in that cave if it weren't for you. You were so brave!" Total grinned happily at your praise and jumped out of your arms. "You guys were gone so long! Where was (Y/n)?"
"Antarctica." Iggy told him.
"Aw man! I wish I could have gone with you guys!" He trotted back into the cabin and jumped onto a green couch. "Did you guys bring home any food?"
"How about we get (Y/n) into some real clothes first, Total." Max said, leading you to a room and pulling out a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt for you. "They're Nudge's. I figure you'd fit better in them.
Thanking her, you slipped into the bathroom to change. You were glad to be in real clothes again, after wearing a gown for half a year. Carrying the gown back out of the bathroom, you rummaged through the drawers in the kitchen until you found what you were looking for. Matches.
You walked outside, breathing in the cool January air. Shivering slightly, you walked around to the side of the house to block the wind. Placing the hospital gown on the damp ground, you lit a match, holding it under the bleached white fabric. You watched in satisfaction as the heat spread a burnt brown across the perfect white of the gown.
The flame caught and the fabric curled into itself, turning black. The stench burned your nose, but you smiled, watching as the gown disappeared into ash that the wind carried away.
"There you are!" You startled as Max appeared, rubbing her arms against the cold. "We thought you had been caught again!" There was an edge of irritation in her voice, but she saw the ashes mixed in with the leaves on the ground, and her face softened. "Feel better?" She asked. You nodded. "You know, we did that same thing when Jeb got us out of the school. We had a big celebration and burned all our school clothes. Once we had found a safe place, of course."
You nodded, "It's very satisfying." Tucking your hands into your pockets, you both stood there, watching the ashes blow away. "Better go back inside." Walking side by side, you and Max made your way back into the cabin. The smell of cooked meat greeted you as you opened the door. "Mmm, what is that?"
"Iggy's cooking up some deer meat. Make sure you don't scarf your food down, or it'll all end up coming back up, and that's just wasted food." Max advised. You nodded, but your stomach was kicking up a fuss. This was going to be the first real food you've had in a long time, and your stomach wasn't going to wait much longer.

You groaned, laying on the couch patting your full stomach. "That was amazing!" You praised Iggy for the tenth time since you finished eating. The flock had all settled down on the couches in the living room of the cabin, and the kids had fallen asleep. You looked at their small faces, and Total's furry one, and smiled. It felt so good to be back with your family.
