"Aw c'mon, Iggy! We already have to deal with Max and Fang!" You opened your eyes at Gazzy's whining, and saw Fang trying to hide a laugh.

Iggy jolted up, his warmth leaving your side where he had lain, with his arm draped over you. His shaggy hair was flat and dirty from where his head had lain on the ground. You sat up as well. The cool night had dried your sweat, but you still felt flushed. 'oh jeez. that's why..' you thought as you realized that everyone was staring at you and Iggy. Total whistled somehow and Iggy turned red. You hoped you didn't as well.

"Is there, uh, something you two want to share?" Max asked, not looking up from where she was roasting something over a fire. You thought she was mad at you, then then you detected a smile playing on her lips and in her voice.

Iggy had gone speechless with embarrassment, so you spoke up. "I had a nightmare about my school. Iggy was just comforting me." Max nodded solemnly, understanding the terror of the nightmares.

"Iggy's got a (boy/girl)friend~! Iggy's got a (boy/girl)friend~!" Gazzy sang as he danced around in circles. Iggy chucked a pebble in Gazzy's direction and it hit him in the leg. Gazzy just cackled.

"I think it's sweet!" Nudge gushed.

"Me too!" Angel agreed.

"I think I miss Akeila." Total mumbled.

Fang just smiled knowingly at Max. "They're not my (boy/girl)friend." Iggy claimed, and you had to admit, that stung a little. Sure, the kids were making things awkward, but he didn't have to deject you like that. "I was comforting them!"

"Give it time." You heard Fang whisper to Max, and they both smiled.

And just like that, the happy/embarrassing morning was gone.

"Hey guys? Big menacing-looking dark cloud heading our way!" Gazzy warned. Max put out the fire and dropped the cooked rat, getting a head count of everyone before giving instructions.

"Total, stay. Ange, Nudge, attack from above. Gazzy, Iggy, from the sides. Fang and I will take the bottom. (Y/n), It's best if you stay here with Total. You aren't experienced enough yet."

"Don't worry, I'll keep them safe!" Total pledged, trotting to your side. The flock dove off the edge of the cave and flew towards the mass of dark shapes. "I smell dog. They're probably flying Erasers." Total told you. "Don't worry. They'll be fine."

You huffed and sat on the ground, watching the fight.

You saw a small group break off from the larger swarm and start flying towards you. You jumped to your feet and Total ran in front of you, baring his small, but sharp, teeth. "I would suggest flying as fast as you could in the opposite direction of them. Don't stop until you've lost 'em." Total commanded.

You didn't hesitate jumping from the ledge and snapping out your wings in an immediate, powerful down stroke. You headed away from the fight and the gang pursuing you. In the distance, you saw dust rising from the ground, caused by five Hummers. 'Oh great! More company!' You thought to yourself.
