(A/n): 200readers!! wow! Thank you!! ^w^

You were standing in front of the school with the flock, waiting for the doors to open. All of you were in the back of the crowd, wound tight as springs, ready to shoot into the air at a moments notice. You had found a secluded river for the flock to wash in and for Total to stay at, and had all nicked clothes from a nearby Laundromat. Sure, it was stealing, but desperate times call for desperate measures, and all that crap.

'Plus,' You thought to yourself, 'it isn't like they didn't have enough clothes! The things people take for granted..' You shook your head, and, for a moment, wondered what it would have been like to have grown up normal. Maybe you would have been one of these kids standing in front of the school, talking and laughing with friends. Your thoughts were cut short by the sound of a school bell and the movement of 300 students filed into the doors.

Nudge, Gazzy, and Angel looked back at Max with a mixture of fear and excitement in their eyes as they followed the kids their age into the school.

"Alright Iggy, (Y/n), be safe. See you soon." Max said as she and Fang walked off and merged into a group of fifteen year olds. You and Iggy walked behind another group of kids, Iggy holding on to your shirtsleeve. It was your job to guide him through the halls and into an empty room. 'What if we can't find any empty rooms?' You started to panic. 'What if we find an empty room, but then someone walks in??'

"(Y/n)." Iggy said. "Calm down, you're shaking." You took a deep breath and followed the students down endless hallways, keeping your eyes open for dark classrooms. As the number of kids in the hallway dwindled, you finally found what looked like a computer lab room that was unoccupied and dark. You tried the handle. Locked. Cursing under your breath, you started to walk away to find somewhere else but Iggy held you back.

"I may be blind, but i can pick a lock in under a minute." He said. Pulling out a paperclip from his back pocket, he felt for the key hole and started working at it. Thirty, agonizingly long seconds later, the lock clicked, and the door swing open.

"Iggy! You're brilliant!" You whispered as you both slipped into the room and locked the door behind you.

"Oh, its nothing!" He said with a sly grin, pocketing the paperclip.

"There's desks up against the wall, we should probably hide under there, in case someone decides to look in the windows." You tugged his sleeve and led him to the desks, telling him when to crouch down, and slid underneath with him.

"And now," he said breathily, "we wait."

It smelled like paper and ink in the room. You found the smell comforting. You had never held a book in your life, but you imagine that they would smell somewhat like this.

"It's quiet." Iggy stated. Maybe trying to start a conversation, maybe just trying to talk off his taught nerves. Or maybe he wasn't wound up. Was it just you that felt nervous? Was that the right word to describe this as? Whatever 'this' was?

"Yah." You said back lamely.

More silence.

"God! How long are these classes?" You were itching to get up and move around. 'How long have I been sitting here? Half an hour? More?'

"(Y/n)," Iggy said patiently, "Its only been two minutes."

'2 MINUTES?? Dear Lord help me now!' You pleaded silently.

"So, another bird-kid, huh?" Iggy's sightless eyes looked at a spot just below your left ear.

"Yup."

"I wonder why they decided to create more avian-hybrids after already making six.."

"Excuse me," you started, suddenly defensive, "You guys were created after I was!"

Iggy looked confused. "We were?"

"Yes!" You crossed your arms. "You were!"

"Oh. sorry.."

Awkward silence.

"How long do these classes take?" You ask.

"I dunno. I've never been in a real school."

"As opposed to a fake school."

"As opposed to the lab we grew up in. We call it 'The School'." Iggy explained.

"I see. Why?"

"Dunno." He said again, shrugging his shoulders. "Max called it that one day and it just sorta stuck."

Silence.

"Where's the scientist who helped you escape?" You ask.

Iggy shrugged, looking down. "He sorta betrayed us. We don't really talk about it. How did you know about that?"

"They tripled the security at my lab after you guys broke out. I heard the scientists talking about it."

"Oh. Sorry."

"For what?"

"I don't know. It just seemed like i should apologize."

"Well, don't."

Silence.

School bell.

(A/n): This defiantly isn't my greatest chapter. I know it dragged and it was pretty much pointless but all books have those, right? ...Right?!?

Anyways...Thank you for the 200 reads! I hope you stick with me till the end (even if things get a bit boring ^^...) ...See ya :)!
