A/n: ik. I'm a trash human being. It's been like a year or something. But I'm back. I can't guarantee for how long but I am not dead!! I'm trying to break out of a bad writers block!

A thin whistling sounded overhead, signaling that Max was close and still flying fast. Iggy craned his head back, sun on his face making him glow in the light, and waited for Max's shadow to cross between him and the sun. Sure enough, a quick flash of darkness blocked the sun as Max zipped passed you two and headed towards the cabin.

"I guess we better head back." Iggy said, sighing.

"What for? All we'd be missing is a glaring contest between Max and Fang. I'd wait another half an hour." You stated, leaning against the trunk of a tree. "If they need us, Fang knows where we are. And I'm sure Max saw us as she passed."

"Yeah," Iggy blushed slightly. "You think that they know what we're up to?"

"You mean the part about me kicking your butt, or you kissing me?"

"Oh please! You did zero butt kicking this round! You're way out of practice."

"Yeah well, What do you expect? I'm sure you weren't at peak performance when you escaped your school." A hint of bitterness laced your words and Iggy fell silent.

He apologized. "It'll take some time. But I'm -we're here to help." Iggy said, correcting himself.

You muttered a 'thank you' and stood up. "Well, now I've got a new wave of rage for those monsters. Let's go!" You stepped into a fighting stance and grinned.

"Oh really? You want to get beat up again?" Iggy smiled.

"Try me!"

Laughing and bruised, you both made your way back to the cabin, hand in hand. Iggy stopped you when thou were both close to the cabin, still keeping you two hidden in the trees. You looked back at him.

"Igg?"

Iggy held your hand in both of his and seemed to study your face. "Amazing." He muttered. And then you remembered, he could see you. He could sense the colors of your hair, your eyes, your skin, your wings.

How long ago was it that you two were crouched under a desk in a computer lab in a high school? It seemed like a lifetime ago.

"Iggy?"

"Hm?"

You hesitated. "Do we have... expiration dates?"

Iggys hands tightened around yours. He stayed silent for a while. "I don't know." He said softly. "None have shown up but... I don't know."

You nodded. "What do we do if they show up on one of us?"

Iggy was silent for a long time. "I think-, we would fight. We would track down scientist after scientist until we found someone that could help. And we wouldn't give up until we did. That's what I would do."

You smiled sadly. "Yeah, never give up." Truth be told, you were scared to death at the idea of suddenly getting an expiration date at the back of your neck. 'After what I saw in the lab...' you shuddered. "C'mon. Let's head in."
