It was well past midnight. The kids were in bed, the house was quiet, & she was busy in the kitchen, cooking quietly with the soft sounds of the record player scratching out notes in the background.

Her husband should be home any minute, so she tried her best to finish dinner up in time for him to eat. She smiled to herself. She loved her husband dearly, evident by the fact that she was making him dinner so late at night.

As she finished up dinner, her husband finally made it home, quietly shutting the door & getting a whiff of the lovely meal his wife made.

"Somethin' smells mighty good, Mrs. Walka," he smiled as he walked into the kitchen, finding his beautiful wife pulling out a lovely, baked chicken from the oven.

She smiled as she set it down, "Why thank you, Mr. Walker," she removed her oven mits & she leaned her cheek towards him, beckoning him to kiss it. He gladly obliged & wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her close as he softly kissed her neck. She hummed in response, "How was work?"

"The usual," he mumbled against her throat, sending shivers down her spine. He started pressing warm kisses up her neck & jaw, making her bite her lip. He softly held her waist tighter as he kissed behind her ear. She gripped the kitchen counter tightly as he continued to pepper her with kisses.

Suddenly, Kit's stomach growled loudly, evidently ruining the moment. She laughed & turned her head, giving his cheek a kiss, "You need to eat, Kitten," he blushed in embarrassment from his stomach's outburst, but purred in response to the nickname, making her laugh.

They both sat at the table & she served him a meal fit for a king, including a scrumptious pie she spent all afternoon baking & cooling. By the end of the meal, he was incredibly full, enough to guarantee him a good night's rest tonight. She insisted on doing the dishes on her own, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. He even convinced her to just dry the plates & return them to the cupboard while he washed them, although not without a mouthful from her. His wife was the sweetest girl he'd ever known, but she was strong-willed & had quite the colorful vocabulary, which she wasn't afraid to use when irritated.

The record player could still be heard softly in the background, making Kit smile. He was usually an all around happy guy, but when he was really happy, he would burst out into song & now, he was clearly extremely elated. So, he turned to his wife as he handed her another wet plate & began serenading her. She blushed a little & laughed. He just smiled & winked, continuing to sing to her. She grinned & sang with him, serenading each other as they continued cleaning up & putting away the dishes. They finished up cleaning the kitchen at around two in the morning & they were definitely ready for bed. Or so she thought.

She went into the living room to turn off the record player, but Kit stopped her. She squeaked in surprise as he pulled her into him, holding her waist gently & flashing her a glorious smile, "Dance with me?" he asked.

She couldn't say no to him nor his smile, "Of course," she wrapped her arms around his neck & he smiled wider. He gently began to sway to the beat of the song, holding her close. She leaned up on her toes a bit to kiss him softly & he eagerly reciprocated the kiss. It was gentle & sweet, just like the two of them.

When she pulled away for air, he gently pressed his forehead against hers, keeping his lips close to hers. She smiled & he smiled back at her. They danced like that for a while, foreheads pressed together, bodies molded into one another, & smiles spread widely across their faces.

Kit reached behind her head, softly tangling a hand in her messy bun. He carefully tugged on the small twist tie, letting her hair fall in messy waves against her shoulders. He softly brushed her bangs behind her ear, his rough hands relishing in her cool & smooth locks. She blushed a little but smiled at him as he gently pinched her chin, leaning in as he mumbled quietly, "Goodness, Mrs. Walka, you are mighty gorgeous."

She laughed a little at his tone & cupped his face, "Well, you are mighty handsome, Mr. Walker," he grinned cheekily & pressed his lips against one of her palms, placing one of his hands on hers. He rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb, still holding her waist with the other. She pulled him closer for another kiss, gently releasing his face & returning her hands around his neck. He placed his other hand back around her waist, dipping her gently during the kiss, making her laugh a little against his lips.

"Well, aren't you a charmer?" she teased & he winked, pulling her back into a standing position. The last song on the record finished just as he did so & he immediately kissed her for the hundredth time that night. She grinned against his lips & kissed him back, mumbling, "You really missed me today," she teased.

He grinned, "O' course I did. I always do."

She laughed, "I missed you too, Kitten."

He chuckled, "You better 'ave!" he teased & kissed her quickly, "Come on, let's go to bed, I'm sure you're mighty tired."

She grinned, "Are you implying what I think you are?"

He laughed, "Well, if you think I'm implyin' sleepin', then yes," she laughed & he leaned down, picking her up bridal style. She held onto him tightly as he led her to the bedroom. It was like her wedding night all over again.

He gently laid her on the bed & jumped in next to her. They were too exhausted to change so they just left their current clothes on & snuggled up to each other. Kit wrapped an arm around her & she laid her head on his chest. He buried his face in her hair & kissed her head. They relaxed into each other's touch & almost immediately fell asleep.
