REQUESTED: Could you do a Jimmy Darling drabble please? Where the reader finds him drinking in his trailer, depressed about his mother's death & has to comfort him?
------------------------------------------------------
Excitedly, you made your way towards your best friend, Jimmy's trailer. A new curfew had been set in place, so Jimmy & the other members of the Freak Show had to stay on the premises after eight o'clock in the evening. They weren't allowed to leave the show for any reason whatsoever, so the only way you could visit Jimmy was driving over to the show after curfew when the others were asleep & there wasn't any work that needed to be done.
The last time you visited him, he said he really missed apple pie & that he had developed a recent hankering for the sweet treat. So, you took the liberty of baking the best apple pie in the whole wide world, just for him. You were so excited to see the look on his face when he got to taste it.
You locked your bicycle onto the small bike rack near the main tent, carefully pulling the warm pie out of the small basket on the front of your bicycle. The smile didn't leave your face as you walked up to Jimmy's trailer, knocking on the door before you pushed the door in slowly, making your way inside, "Jimmy, I'm hoooome!" you sang, smiling as your eyes searched for him; however, the smile on your face immediately fell when you saw him.
He was lying on the floor near his bed, his back pressed against the end of his bed, a bottle in his hand & his head lowered down at the floor. You could hear him crying & your heart broke as the lovely pie you made crashed to the floor.
Instantly, you were by his side, taking the bottle away from him before pulling him into your lap. He buried his face against your chest as he sobbed, holding onto your body for dear life. You just hugged him tightly as he cried into your chest. You rubbed gentle circles into his back & he slowly began to calm down. His cries became more hushed & the tears were shed less. He began to hiccup from how hard he cried, but besides that & a few sniffles, he was quiet.
He moved to sit up in your lap & you gently cupped his face, wiping away the tears on his cheeks & attempting to dry them. He sniffled a bit & you pressed a soft kiss to his forehead, "Shh it's okay, I'm right here," he gave you a faint smile & you kissed his nose before flicking it playfully. He scrunched his face & laughed a little, his smile widening a bit.
You gently ran your hand through his hair, messing up his curls & making him relax a bit, "Do you want to talk about it?" you asked & he immediately frowned. He knew you would ask him that & he knew he would have to tell you, which he didn't mind. In fact, he really wanted to, but the whole event was still so fresh & new to him that just thinking about it made him burst into tears.
"My...my ma died the other day," he whispered.
You gasped, "Oh my God...Jimmy...I'm so sorry," you quickly pulled him back into a hug so he wouldn't see the tears stream down your face. You couldn't believe it. Ethel was dead? How could that have happened? You had become really close to Ethel on account of the fact that you & Jimmy were best friends. She could see the strong connection between you two & would always tease that she better get front-row seats to your guys' wedding. Truth be told, you & Jimmy were in love with each other, but neither knew about the other's feelings. To everyone else at the Freak Show, it was so obvious & they had secretly been praying that the two of you would open your eyes & start dating already.
You gently pulled Jimmy's face up towards you so that you were facing each other & looked into his eyes, "Jimmy, I made a promise to your Mom a while ago," you said & he gave you a curious look, "I promised her that if anything ever happened to her or the Freak Show, I'd take care of you," you gently rubbed his cheek with your thumb, "You're not going to be alone; you have me," you promised, "forever & always," you whispered, & Jimmy lost it. He pulled you into a bone-crushing hug. You just hugged him back, burying your face in his hair, "You're going to be okay; we're going to be okay," he smiled into your shoulder & gave your neck a quick kiss in response. You blushed a little but rubbed his back so he wouldn't notice.
For a while, it was just peace, quiet, & the two of you embracing. It was calm: no tears, no sounds, no words. It was just a tight & loving embrace. You thought maybe Jimmy had fallen asleep, but you didn't dare check for fear of waking him. It was a long time before either of you spoke, but once your eyes wandered to the bottle you took away from him, you broke the silence, "Jimmy, can you promise me something?" you asked quietly.
He nodded against your shoulder, "Yes," he said.
You sighed softly, "Please, promise me that you'll stop drinking?" it was quiet again, until Jimmy slowly sat up, looking at you with his red & puffy eyes.
"I promise," you smiled, "but on one condition."
You frowned a bit, "What condition?"
He smiled & leaned closer, "Marry me."
Your eyebrows rose as your eyes widened in shock. Did he really just ask you to marry him? "What?" you asked stupidly.
He just laughed lightly as he cupped your face, "Marry me, darlin'. Not right now, exactly, but promise me that some day, when I get a ring & all, you'll marry me," you stared at him in shock, "And I'll never pick up another bottle again," he promised.
He was your best friend, the best friend you had fallen in love with, but you hadn't even confessed your feelings for him & he was already proposing. Your heart was racing in your chest at thought of being married to Jimmy & you couldn't help but smile.
"Yes," you whispered, "I promise," his smile turned into the biggest grin he had ever grinned before & it made your heart flutter. He gently leaned in, closing the gap between you two & kissing you. You kissed him back eagerly, pulling him closer to you. His hands found their way to your waist as he continued to kiss you. You trailed your fingers through his hair & he squeezed your hips in response.
When he pulled away, he pressed his forehead against yours, his breathing a bit heavy as he whispered, "I love you."
You smiled from ear to ear, "I love you, too," he kissed you once more before he gently laid down beside you, wrapping an arm around you & pulling you into his chest. Another comfortable silence settled between you two, but this time, Jimmy broke it.
"What's that?" he said, gesturing towards the pie you made but dropped when you found Jimmy.
You laughed a bit, "I made you an apple pie," you carefully got up & walked over to the pie. Thankfully, the cover stayed on so the pie didn't touch the floor & was still edible, but it wasn't the beautiful pie you had spent all day making. You picked it up & walked back over to Jimmy, sitting back down in his lap, "It doesn't look so good anymore, but hopefully, you still like it."
He stared at you, then the pie, then back at you before smiling, "You made li'le ol' me an apple pie, jus' because I was cravin' one?"
You smiled & nodded, "Well, yeah," he just smiled & shook his head slightly.
"I can't wait to marry you," he said, making you blush a little. He dipped his finger into the disfigured pie, scooping up a good chunk & bringing it to his mouth. He ate the piece, chewing thoughtfully, before he sighed contentedly, "I really can't wait to marry you."
You laughed & rolled your eyes.
