You were shaking, your eyes shut tight as you tried to avoid the bright lights of the hospital. Your room was so bright & white, it made you uncomfortable. It did nothing but illuminate the terrifying images playing behind your eyelids like a movie. You tried desperately to make it all stop, but you couldn't. Your nightmare was your reality & no matter how long you kept your eyes shut or how many times you opened them, your nightmare would never end.

You sighed & opened your eyes, deciding that the bright lights were better than being reminded of what happened at that goddamn party. Your ankle had been x-rayed & set by the doctors, who informed you that your ankle had been broken in three places. Thankfully, they were clean breaks, so it would heal up nicely. You just hoped your psychological injuries would heal up just as nicely.

Kyle was sitting beside your bed, never leaving your side since he rescued you. He wanted to hold your hand, rub your back, something to reassure you that he was there for you & would keep you safe, but he was afraid to. He figured you definitely didn't want to be touched after an incident like that, so he kept his hands to himself, but stayed by your side.

"I'm so...sorry for what they did," he swallowed, "I never would have thought that they would do something like that."

You looked at him, "Please, don't apologize for them. You did nothing wrong," you sat up a bit, looking him straight in the eyes, "You saved me, Kyle," you breathed.

He blushed a little, smiling shyly, "I just wanted to make sure you were okay."

You gently grabbed his hand, interlocking your fingers with his, "And I am okay, all because of you," he smiled again & blushed a bit darker, squeezing your hand softly. You sighed, "I'm really sorry I was so rude to you. I judged you unfairly & you didn't deserve that. I didn't deserve you saving me after I treated you like that."

"Hey, no, don't do that," he gently released your hand & cupped your face with both of his, "You did not deserve for them to touch you like that, to do those things to you, no matter if you were rude to me or judged me. Nothing you could have ever done would have made you deserve for those things to happen."

You held back tears. He was probably the sweetest person you had ever met in your entire life & you didn't deserve him.

You watched him for a moment before you leaned in slowly. He watched you curiously & raised his eyebrows when your lips met his. He kissed you back instantly, though, not asking any questions. The kiss wasn't long, but it was gentle & sweet, & it made both of your hearts flutter. Kyle softly grabbed your hand again, pressig his forehead against yours as you whispered, "Thank you."

He simply smiled.

You heard shuffling coming from outside the hall & someone coming into your room. Kyle gently sat back in his seat, still holding your hand. The doctor walked in, checking your clipboard information & greeting you, "Well, it looks like you're all set to go," you sighed with relief, "but, I can't let you leave here unless you have a caretaker who can watch over you. You're not going to be able to walk on that ankle for at least three days," you groaned internally. Normally, you would have just made your best friend watch you & take care of you, but after last night, you weren't sure if you'd ever speak to your friend again, "What relation does this boy have to you? Is he your primary caregiver?" the doctor spoke again, gesturing towards Kyle.

"I'm uh..." Kyle began but you cut him off.

"He's my boyfriend," he turned to you in surprise, blushing slightly, but smiling widely.

"Well, he'll have to keep a close eye on you for the next couple of days," she said as she scribbled something down on a piece of paper & handed it to Kyle, "These are two prescriptions, one for painkillers & one for a medicated ointment to help with swelling. Make sure her ankle is massaged at least twice a day & she takes the medication only when the pain becomes excruciating," she scribbled something else on another paper & handed it to you, "This is the number of one my colleagues who's a wonderful psychologist & therapist. If you need to talk to someone, just give him a call & told him I sent you. He'll be happy to help."

You took the paper & nodded, "Thank you."

She flashed you a smile before leaving the room, "You're welcome. Be careful, okay? And make sure that police report sticks."

Kyle helped you up & sat you down in a wheel chair before checking you out of the hospital. He grabbed some crutches for you & picked up your prescriptions before taking you home. He helped you get settled in your bed & ordered dinner for the two of you before you took your medicine.

"Thank you, Kyle, for everything."

"Ah!" he said, giving you a stern yet playful look, "That's Nurse Spencer, to you."

You laughed, "Oh, my apologies, Nurse Spencer."

He grinned, "Much better."

You rolled your eyes, "Do I get a good night kiss?"

"No," you pouted, "but you can have two."

"Dork," you rolled your eyes & he laughed as he leaned down to give you a quick kiss before kissing you a second time.

"Good night," he said sweetly.

"Good night," you said. You pulled him down next to you before he could walk away & carefully snuggled into him. He was surprised but eagerly returned your embrace, pressing a kiss to your head. You slept peacefully that night with Kyle right by your side.
