REQUESTED: Drabble where Evan & the reader are on a plane & Evan is really nervous before take off because there's a storm so the reader has to comfort him?
------------------------------------------------------
The sky was pitch black, a few streams of blue & purple flooding the never-ending sees of dark blue. Small specks of yellow & white peppered the sky as the bright light of the moon brought attention to the dark expanse above. Luckily, you had gotten a window seat, so you got to see the spectacular sky-view, although, the universe had other plans to keep you from seeing the lovely sky.
You & Evan were on a plane to Missouri, flying in to see his family for the upcoming holiday. Evan was fairly used to flying, since he had to do it so much for AHS, but even so, he still got nervous from time to time, especially if he had to fly during a storm. Currently, with you there, he wasn't nervous at all. You always kept his mind occupied so he couldn't even focus on his anxiety, but even so, once that storm hit, not even you were enough to keep his focus off it.
It was only rain, but the second Evan saw a flash of lightening, his anxiety kicked in & he immediately began to be afraid & worried, "Do you remember last time during dinner when your mom discretely tried to ask if we would give her grandchildren & she---whoa, hey, are you okay?" you stopped talking the minute you noticed how uncomfortable he was, the fear evident in his eyes. He gripped the seat tightly, his knuckles nearly white. His Adam's apple bounced with each nervous swallow as he tried to keep his breathing even.
You reached over & grabbed his hand, "Hey, it's okay, it's just a storm," you smiled, "The thunder is just your grandparents bowling with all their friends up in Heaven & the lightning is just your grandpa throwing a fit & cursing when he doesn't get a strike," he laughed at that & relaxed a little, but his smile didn't reach his eyes. You squeezed his hand gently & looked at him seriously, "Hey, look at me," his eyes locked with yours & you held his gaze for a moment before you proceeded to make ridiculous faces at him. He immediately cracked up & you took this as your chance to discretely pull down the blinds to the window. By the time you had the blinds of all windows within a close proximity to you both down, Evan was laughing so much that his face hurt & he couldn't stop smiling. You cracked up yourself & you both ended up in a huge laughing fit.
Just as you were both about to relax & enjoy the flight, a crack of thunder boomed over the plane & it began to experience extreme turbulence. Evan gripped the seat tightly & closed his eyes, trying to calm his breathing. You genty held one of his hands with yours while you rubbed his back soothingly with the other. He began to relax after some time & pretty soon, he was leaning into your touch. You smiled & ruffled his hair gently, "You're okay, the nasty storm can't get Big Bad Evan."
He laughed a little, "You're funny."
You grinned, "I know," he smiled softly as you continued to rub his back & think of other ways to distract him, "You know, they say that when you look at someone you love, your pupils dilate by as much as twenty percent."
He giggled, "Oh? What happens when you look at me?"
"My irises disappear because my pupils get so big."
He laughed, "Is that so? Well mine do the same."
"How can you even tell? Your eyes are already so dark that I never see your pupils."
He grinned, "Exactly."
You snorted, "Very smooth, you must be made of butter."
"Actually, I'm made of coffee & bad people skills."
You laughed, "You're not that bad with people."
"You know, you're the only other person I've ever met who's just as bad with people as me, so your argument is invalid."
"...this isn't going to work out."
He laughed & kissed you softly, "I was just kidding."
You smirked & kissed him back, "Mhmm you better have been," he just grinned & kissed you again. You would have kept kissing, but the lovely smell of food overwhelmed you. You pulled away slightly to see the flight attendants administering some fresh, warm food, "Oh my God, my love."
Evan pouted playfully, "Hey! I thought that was me."
"Oh, right, yeah," you teased, trying to see what the food was, "Don't you smell that? How can you not fall in love."
He laughed, "Food is pretty great," finally, the food came around to the two of you. It was warm bowls of pasta, with breadsticks & a salad. Your mouth was practically watering as you eagerly began to devour your food. Evan ate just as eagerly, although he kept glancing at you every now & then, admiring how cute you were. He had completely forgotten about the storm, thanks to you, & was now calm & happy as he ate with you.
"Hey Evan?"
"Yeah?" he turned to look at you & you smirked.
"You got some pasta sauce on your face," you said as you flicked some of the gooey sauce onto his cheeks & nose.
His eyes narrowed at you, "You little shit," he dipped his finger in his bowl of sauce & smeared it all over your nose, getting some on your mouth. He laughed, "Let me get that for you," he leaned close & kissed you again, removing the sauce from your lips with his own.
You laughed & scrunched your nose, "That tickles," he just grinned at your cuteness & pulled you closer. You grabbed a napkin & removed the sauce from his face, giving his cheek a kiss when you were done. You cleaned your own face before you let Evan lay his head on your shoulder, "You must be exhausted. You should get some sleep while you can," you said, running your fingers through his hair.
He sighed contentedly & closed his eyes, mumbling, "Yes ma'am," you smiled & continued running your fingers through his hair, the storm finally letting up, but still long forgotten.
