REQUESTED: Instead of Tate committing the murders, it's [the reader]. Tate moves into the Murder House & basically falls in love with the female version of "Evil Tate"?
*There's a literal switch: Mr. & Mrs. Harmon are now The Langdons & Constance, you & Adelaide are a family. Hope that's not too confusing*
-----------------------------------------------------
You stared out the window of your old room in the Murder House, watching as the newest family brought in their belongings & material possessions. You loved to watch the new families move in & think about what kind of people they were like. Deep down, you knew they were all the same, but you secretly hoped that this new family would be different & that you didn't have to kill them.
You learned a lot about the Langdon family. Dr. Langdon was a therapist who had a very stable & successful job & Mrs. Langdon was a devoted housewife who gave up her career to take care of their only child, Tate.
Tate was a good kid. He kept good grades, was respectful to his parents & others, well-behaved, mannered, & just an all-around very sweet boy. You were especially excited about meeting him. You had yet to meet a teenager your age in this house so meeting Tate was something you really looked forward to.
You watched Tate as he carried all of the boxes filled with his possessions into the house before you heard him address his mother, "Mom, I'm taking the room upstairs."
"It's all yours," she replied & with that, Tate excitedly made his way upstairs into his new room.
You disappeared just before he opened the door. You carefully sat on the windowsill, watching him as he surveyed the room. He was incredibly cute. He blonde hair that was messy, jeans that were old & torn, Converse that were severely scuffed & overworn. He was wearing a Nirvana shirt, making a smile spread across your face. He had a cardigan over his clothes, completing his grungy, Kurt Cobain look.
You were really going to like this new family.
Tate smiled widely as he looked around his new room. He was so excited about this place, even though his father's infidelity was what prompted this sudden uprooting. This house was so incredible to Tate & he couldn't wait to start getting to know the place.
He plopped onto his new bed, sighing contentedly as he snuggled into the pillows. You happily & discretely watched him from your post by the window, knowing your heart would be racing, if it still could. You had never felt an instant attraction to someone like this before, but you knew that you were definitely interested in Tate.
Tate turned over, facing in your direction. You knew he couldn't see you, but you got nervous anyway. He was staring right where you were sitting, blinking softly.
You bit your lip. What if he could see you?
He seemed to be staring into nothing, so you tried to calm yourself down a bit. You would have to reveal yourself to him eventually, especially if you wanted to get to know him.
Tate sighed & turned onto his back, looking up at the ceiling. He was already planning out where he was going to put all of his glow in the dark space pieces & fairy lights. Luckily, the ceiling was already a dark color, so it would really compliment his space replica. He mapped out where he was going to put all of his band posters & music, picturing different locations & how they'd look in his mind.
You continued to watch him curiously from your perch at the window, wondering what he was thinking about. You thought about different scenarios in your head in regards to how you would show yourself to him & the conversation you'd strike up, settling on using the Neighborhood Welcome Committee Act, as you liked to call it.
You carefully walked out of the room & into the hall before turning back. You made yourself visible & slowly started walking to his room. Once you made it to his open door, you carefully peeked your head into your old room & knocked softly, "Knock knock?"
Tate immediately sat up, looking at you curiously, "Oh um...hi?"
You smiled, "Hi, may I come in?" he nodded & you walked into his room, outstretching your hand towards him, "Hi, I'm your neighbor. I live in the house right next door with my mother, Constance, & my sister, Adelaide. I saw you were moving in & figured I'd come over to say hello & help you unpack."
He finally returned your smile, relishing in how cute & attractive you looked as he shook your hand, "Hey, nice to meet you, I'm Tate. Thank you, I could definitely use the help."
You chuckled, "Hi, Tate. So, what do you want to unpack first?"
He exhaled & thought for a moment, "Umm...how about my music?"
You grinned, "Alright," you both opened up one of the five boxes of his that were filled with CDs, tapes, & vinyls. You looked through some of them, grinning to yourself, "You have great music taste."
He stopped & looked back at you in surprise, "You listen to rock & grunge music?"
You snorted, "Duh, it's the best music on the planet."
He beamed at you, "I really like you already."
You laughed, "Likewise, Tater Tot," he flushed softly at the silly nickname, his heart fluttering a little at the fact that his super adorable neighbor already had given him a nom de plume.
The two of you spent the rest of the afternoon sifting through Tate's stuff & organizing everything. You had gotten to know each other fairly well during the span of that time, laughing & joking with each other as you unpacked & stacked. You had a lot of fun doing it, probably the most fun you had had in a long time.
"Hey, do you want to stay for dinner? My mom would love to have you."
You frowned, "I really wish I could, but I can't. It's almost past my curfew & my mom won't let me skip dinner tonight," you lied smoothly.
"Oh," he replied, frowning with disappointment, "Some other time, then?"
You nodded & smiled, "Definitely," he returned your smile.
"Great. I'll walk you out?" he followed you to the front door. He opened it for you & smiled, "Thanks for coming over & helping me out. It's nice to know at least one person before I start school."
You laughed, "It's no problem. I'm looking forward to seeing you every day," you winked & pressed a kiss to his cheek before walking out & closing the door behind yourself. You quickly reappeared inside the house, right by the back door & made yourself invisible. You watched Tate stare at the door in shock for a few moments before he turned back around, a huge grin plastered on his face.
You couldn't help but copy his expression & match his grin.
