Chapter 16: Sky Labyrinth

Dogwonder: And I'm back! Summer is here!

Nya: You were on this big writing streak then you crashed and burned author. Seriously.

Dogwonder: I know, I know. I will make up for it. Now's let's begin!

FYI: I don't own Fairy tail (obviously). I will just be using some quotes from the manga/show.

"It's almost midnight!" I shouted at the members. "Why the hell did it take so da*n long?!"

"This was very irresponsible of you guys." Juliet nodded.

"I was doing... stuff." Lilly blushed.

I groaned and slapped my forehead.

"Sorry Nya. I kind of lost track of time." Tsukasa apologized.

"With a certain someone I'm sure." Nova smirked.

I sighed at the short haired blonde. She leaned against the wall with her arms crossed over her black bikini top and pink vest. Also, white boots with black knee socks and wore red theigh jean shorts. Her black eyes shined mischievously as she watched Tsukasa blush.

"Love sick fools." I muttered.

"Well, we're all here now. We should just stay put until it's midnight." Haku advised.

"Though seriously. What's with that midnight rule. It's ridiculous." Nova huffed.

"It's part of the rules so we have to follow them. We'll just have to see." Lilly reminded.

The clock then struck midnight and all the clocks throughout the town started to ring out.

"Looks like we didn't have to wait long." Kuzo noted.

"Now what?" Tsukasa asked.

Suddenly lights appeared outside and we all rushed to the window to see.

"To all the guilds here for the Grand Magic Tournament, good morning! In order to narrow down the competing teams from one hundred and fourteen to eight, we're now... starting a preliminary event!" Announced a pumpkin man.

"They could have warned us in advance." I scowled.

"That's kind of the point." Haku pointed out.

"It's Kabo!" Lilly shouted.

"What the hell have they've been feeding him?!" Tsukasa shouted.

"Dude, that's just a projection." Nova deadpanned.

"Oh." Tsukasa realized.

"It's ridiculous how they plan on making one hundred and fourteen turn into eight. Are they serious?" Kuzo scoffed.

"Each year the number of competing guilds keep growing... and the events became a little predictable, so we made some changes. This year there will be only eight competing teams for the official events. The preliminary rules are simple!" Kabo continued.

Suddenly the building started shaking and tilting. We are reached to grab onto something and we saw the building rush up into the air.

"The event starts now! The official event grounds, Domus Frau, will be your destination. The first eight teams that get there will enter the finals!" Kabo told us all.

"It's transforming now! Why?!" Lilly yelled.

"What the hell are these people thinking?!" Nova shouted.

"The other buildings are transforming too." Kuzo noticed.

"So I guess this will be your guys starting point." I realized.

We then watched as wooden planks started appearing and formed stairs towards a building in the air in the making.

"We're supposed to walk on that?!" Tsukasa questioned.

"You are free to use any sorts of magics. No restrictions. The preliminary event ends once the first eight teams make it to the grounds. However you will be disqualified if not all members are present. And one! More! Thing- We take no responsibility for anyone who loses their lives in the labyrinth." Kabo announced.

"Labyrinth?!" Tsukasa exclaimed.

We watch as the final pieces are added to the building and see a huge metal sphere with roads everywhere leading to it.

"The Grand Magic Tournament! Sky Labyrinth has started!" Kabo exclaimed.

"That's crazy!" Tsukasa shouted.

"They're really trying this year." Haku commented.

"To kill you that is." I smirked.

"Not funny." Lilly pouted.

"Enough chit-chat! Move out!" Nova shouted.

Nova jumped out the window and started running up the steps. The others reacted immediately and they all ran after her.

"You better get in!" I yelled. "Or you're all dead!"

I continued to watch them until they disappeared into the labyrinth where they began to face problems.

"Someone needs to smack some da*n sense into the architect." Nova scowled.

They stood inside the labyrinth where you couldn't tell what direction was which anymore.

"I have to agree with you there." Tsukasa nodded.

"Is this supposed to be art or something?" Lilly questioned.

"They're trying to make it harder for us to reach the finish line by doing this. It has nothing to do with art." Kuzo explained.

"Let's just all agree the architect was either drunk or brain dead when he designed this. Now we have to focus." Haku sighed.

"The first thing we should do is find which direction is east since that's the direction of the event grounds." Kuzo told them.

"I can take care of that!" Lilly exclaimed. "Imagine Art: Compass!"

After a flash of light a compass dropped from the sky into Lilly's hands.

"East is that way!" Lilly pointed.

The group started walking through the complicated labyrinth.

"We should make a map in order to know what we have already passed." Haku advised. "You can take care of that Kuzo."

Kuzo nodded and started to create a map from the materials Lilly gave him. They soon encountered another group.

"They have a map too." Tsukasa noticed.

"I get it now." Haku smirked.

"I do too." Kuzo realized.

The two nodded at each other and easily defeated the group.

"Why did you do that?!" Lilly exclaimed.

"For this." Haku held up the map he took. "We can combine the maps together for a more accurate one."

Haku handed the map to Kuzo and they quickly gathered maps from other groups. They soon reached the end point where Kabo stood waiting for them.

"What place did we get?" Lilly asked.

"We're probably first." Tsukasa smirked.

"Most likely not." Kuzo told him.

"Way to crush the dream." Tsukasa grumbled.

"Hurry up and tell us." Nova snapped.

"Well, that young man is right. You didn't get first, but fifth place." Kabo told them.

"At least Nya won't kill is for that." Lilly joked. "Hopefully."
