Chapter 24: Pain

I blankly watched the match between Blue Pegasus and my guild. No matter how much I tried to concentrate on the fight my thoughts kept wondering to Lucy. After all the denying I have done to being affiliated to them I still cared and longed for them. Going to the infirmary confirmed those feelings that I wanted to discard, but I also knew I could never act upon those feelings.

I stormed away from the balcony ledge and back to the infirmary. At this point I honestly no longer how I made my guildmates feel; I had become to wrapped up in myself. When I arrived I walked in to see Lucy sitting up and Elfman asleep.

"Hey Lucy." I greeted.

Lucy awoke from her daze and looked at me surprised. "How come you're not out there?"

"I wanted to see you." I sat down on the stool next to her.

"Why?"

"Who knows?"

Lucy looked at me unsatisfied with my answer, but didn't press it.

"Natsu is caring as usual." I continued. "He was right next to you in a flash."

"Stop it." Lucy blurted out. "Don't talk as if you know him."

I was taken aback by her attitude, but didn't let it show.

"I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean that." Lucy apologized.

"Sure you didn't. That's why you always look so angry and sad whenever Natsu and I were together."

Lucy looked at me in shock.

"So why don't you tell me how you really feel?"

"You want to know how I feel? I want to stay from Natsu! I've loved him long before you showed up! I was always by his side! He even showed how he liked me better than Lisanna! But it all meant nothing when it cam to you!" Lucy then started sobbing. "Please! Please! Give him to me! I want him more! I need him more! I love him more! Please!"

I tried to imagine Lucy and Natsu together, but it hurt. It hurt so badly. But I knew I had to continue to hurt. I had to to repay all the people I know I had caused pain up till now, because I was. So I would hurt myself in the worst way possible. Then leave everything behind.

"Sure." I kept a blank face as my heart slowly built it's wall up again. "You can have him. He no longer means anything to me."

Lucy glared at me. "I wonder why Natsu is still hung up on you. You are colder then you used to be. Natsu deserves better. I shouldn't even have had to ask you to give him to me."

I stood up. "Because that's the only way a pitiful girl like you would ever get him."

I then walked out of the room with a heavier hurt then before.

It will only get worse from here. Once the games end you will be alone again and the pain will continue to grow.
