"Why do we have to move Grandpa? Why can't we just move in with grandma?" Rey pleaded as she sealed the box she just packed with tape.
"Because Rey, in Texas the houses are cheaper and the people are nicer. You'll love it there." He said putting a hand on her shoulder.
Rey pouted and lifted the box into the moving truck. She placed the box in the truck and closed the truck, latching the door shut.
Texas is so stupid. It's always 100 degrees there and the people there are hillbillies. I don't want to leave. I love it here.
"You'll be ok darling." Her grandfather smiled.
Rey smiled back and jumped in the passengers seat of the truck and buckled in. She had her back pack already in the front with her so she wouldn't forget it.
"Ready?" Her grandfather asked.
"Ready Papa!" She exclaimed trying to sound enthusiastic about the trip.It was going to take 4 days to drive to Texas. And it wasn't going to be fun. They pulled out of the drive way and started their 4 day journey.
Rey looked back at the big blue house with the green door and remembered the days she spent there as a child. She grew up there and now she was going to leave it all behind to move into some raggedy house that probably had mice.
"Bye Blue." Rey whispered to herself as tears started to form in her eyes.
She named the house blue because of the color. She even remembered the day that the painters painted the house. She quickly became friends with them.
She would talk with them through the window while they painted. He always was listening no matter how stupid Rey's stories were.
"Rey are you all right?" Her grandfathers words snapped her back into reality.
"Yeah I'm fine I'm just a little bit emotional that all." Rey said wiping away the tears from her eyes.
As she rolled down her window they were just passing her best friends house. His name was Zack. Him and Rey were friends ever since they were little and they would play outside in their kiddy pools everyday during the summertime.
Tears streamed down her face as she quickly came extremely sad to leave. Reality was setting in now. She couldn't just leave her whole life behind. Her family and her friends. She didn't want to leave. She wanted to stay and have more adventures with Zack.
"Rey...." Papa said patting her leg.
"Yes papa?" She said turning her head."My mother always told me that sometimes when things seem like they aren't going to work out and all seems lost and hopeless, there is always going to be a light at the end of the tunnel. And now I'm telling you. No matter how cloudy and dark your world may become, there is always going to be a silver lining." Rey was moved by papa's words. He was right. No matter how bad things might have become, she will always remember this place and will soon see that green door again.
