Chapter 18// Sour Patch Kids

We walked into the overly priced store and make our way to the snack aisle.
"What are you going to get?" I ask Ben.
"I don't know. Like some gummy candy. I love Sour Patch Kids." He says smiling. He was so dorky I loved it.
"Don't we all?" I say grabbing some chocolate and a water.
Ben grabs some sour worms and a water as well and we made our way to the checkout.
We went in the self checkout since I hated waiting in line for the other lines.
"Wait I like to scan the items!" I say snatching Bens stuff out of his hands.
"Ok." He says laughing.
I scan all the items and I swipe my card.
I get our snacks stuff it in my bag.
We exit the store and walk the short walk to the theatre.
"Have you ever seen a horror movie?" I ask.
"Yeah I love them. My dad use to take me to festivals in the park that would play them."
I could see his face glow with happiness. I know that's a cheesy thing to say but it was true.
"Hello welcome to Cinemark how may I help you?" The man asks.
"Hi can I get 2 adult tickets for the Conjuring 2 at 2:20?" I say pulling out my card but then Ben slides a ten dollar bill into my hands.
I look at him and smile.
"That'll be 10 dollars." He says. I hand him the money and in exchange he hands us our tickets.
"You didn't have to pay you know." I say smiling at him. I smiled a lot more when I was with him. He just made me happy.
"I know but you paid for the snack so why not?" He says smiling and wrapping his arm around me. I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks.
"Theatre 4 on the left." The man at the ticket booth says as he points down the hallway to the theatre.
"Thank you." We say walking to the theatre.
We walk into the giant screening room and see that there was no one else in the room. Well we didn't expect many people at all since the movie was released 2 months ago.
"All to ourselves." Ben says smirking.
"Don't do that." I say laughing.
"That's so weird and creepy." I say laughing even harder.
I run up the stairs to the first row of seats and plop down in one of the seats.
Then Ben stumbles forward and falls on the ground.
"HA!" I yell really loud. Thank god no one was here to see it.
"That wasn't that funny." He says laughing and managing to get stable again.
"He plops down on the seat next to me as the movie started.
"Here." I say handing him his water and worms.
"Thanks sweet pea." He says kissing my forehead.
"I like peas." I say smiling.
"I know." He says laughing.
As the movie started my heart rate rapidly increased. This was my first scary movie!
"Oh my god I'm so scared." I say shaking.
"The movie hadn't even started yet." Ben says laughing.
"Still I'm scared!" I say laughing again.
"I'm here to protect you." He says pulling my into his chest.

As the movie ended and the credits started rolling we grabbed our trash and I stood up. But I was immediately pulled back down my Ben.
"What?" I ask laughing landing weirdly in my seat.
He squishes his lips against mine and we stay like that for a good couple of seconds till I pull away and stand back up.
Then I get pulled down again by Ben and he does the same thing.
"We can't sleep in the theatre." I say smiling.
"I know. Let's get out of here." He says hoping up and grabbing my hand.
We walk out of the theatre and into the night.
"How is it dark already?" I ask.
"It's only 6:30. The movie probable didn't start till like 3." He says looking at his watch.
"That was a hella long movie!" I yell in the abandoned parking lot.
We walk to the car and we get in.
Before Ben starts it I see him staring at me.
"What?" I ask smiling.
"You're just so beautiful." He says smiling. I couldn't help but let out a little giggle because no one has ever called me beautiful except Papa, he's always got my back.
Ben starts the car and we get on the highway back to my house.
I was really tired for some reason.
I started to drift off in the car and then I feel Bens hand caress my hand. Then he pecks my forehead.
"My sweet little angel."
