Chapter 36// Reney Rose

I hear my phone buzz on my dresser. I get up and see its a text from Ben.
B: Hey Rey. You busy?
I texted back immediately since I was bored out of my mind.
R: Hey Ben I'm not busy :)
I hit the send button and shut off my phone. After about 11 seconds I get a reply.
B: Awesome! I'll be at your place in 10
What was happening? I didn't even know I just got ready.
I put on a clean shirt since the one I was wearing was horribly dirty.
I pull on a clean black shirt and some shorts. Black is classy and is my favorite color.
I hop into the bathroom and glance in the mirror at myself.
I looked not that bad actually. Casually Classy.
I rushed down stairs to check on Papa.
"Papa I'm going out." I say leaning into the kitchen.
"With who?" He says facing away from me.
"Ben." I say blushing saying his name.
He turns to me slowly and puts a hand on his hip.
"Is it a date?" He asks raising a brow.
"No papa! We're just friends now." I say rolling my eyes and running to the door.
"But I saw you and him--" I cut him off suddenly walking out the door.
"Bye papa!" I shout closing the door.
I walk out to the curb and look down the road. Left then right.
I sit down on the curb and pull out my phone and ring Finn.
The phone rings about 3 times before he picks it up.
"Hello?" He says into the phone.
"Hey Finn its Rey." I say back noticing he sounds happier.
"Hey Rey. What's up?" He says. I could tell he was happy to hear my voice.
"I just wanted to check up on you and see if you were all right." I say smiling.
"Yeah I'm fine. Rey I don't need a check up I'm not a mental patient." He says chuckling.
"Ok ok. I was just checking in. Goodnight." I say back.
"Goodnight Rey." He says hanging up the phone. I smile and hit the power button on my phone.
Where was Ben? He was said he'd be at my place in 10 minutes. It's been 30.
I pulled out my phone for the second time and dialed Bens number. Been a while since I've done that.
Right when I was about to hit the call button I hear a car pull up in front of where I was sitting. It was Bens black Audi.
I stand up and walk to the car.
I open the door and slid into my seat.
"Hey Ben I was just abo--" I cut my sentence short when I saw his face.
He had bruises on his face and scratches all over his arms.
"Ben what the hell happened to you?!" I say examining the scratches on his arm.
"It's nothing Am-- I just fell down the stairs." He says fumbling for his words.
I knew he was about to say Amber but decided not to. Amber did this. She hurt Ben?! Oh that bitch has it coming.
"Let's just go to the park or something." He says accelerating the vehicle.
I decided not to bother Ben about it since he was pretty stern about it but Amber will wish she wasn't born.
We drive down the road, make a couple of turns, and arrive the park.
Ben parks the car and we get out.
I pull on my t-shirt and we head down the gravel path.
"So how has life been?" I ask trying to start a conversation.
"Um it's been pretty good I guess." He says chuckling.
"Cool....cool." I say under my breath.
"How's has Finn and Poe been? I haven't seen them since the party." He says putting his hands in his pockets awkwardly.
"Poe's out of town so I haven't heard of him in a while but Finn....." I trail off remembering the way he was sitting on my bed crying.
"He's been alright." I say clenching my jaw.
"What does alright mean?" Ben says shrugging his shoulders.
"His parents are getting divorced." I say quietly.
"Oh. I know how that feels." He says looking at his feet.
"Really?" I ask surprised. He never mentioned his parents divorce.
"Yeah. My dad isn't my real dad I'm just more comfortable calling him that." He says looking back up at me.
"So your mom is remarried?" I ask him curiously.
"Yeah basically. My real dad left us when I was just born. He left me on my birthday actually." He says scratching the back of his neck.
"Ben I'm so sorry." I say stopping in my tracks and turning to him.
He stops as well and turns to me.
He fakes a smile and shrugs.
"It's ok it's not that bad." He says grinning weakly.
I grin as well and we return back to walking.
"What was your dads name?" He asks out of the blue.
"Jameson." I say not really remembering my dad. He was this giant ball of stress. If it was work he was stressed. If it was home life he was stressed. If it was his marriage he was stressed. Stress 24/7.
"And your moms?" He asks hands still in his pockets.
"Anastasia." I say smiling. I loved my mom even though she was depressed all the time. My mom and dad were sort of made for each other. If my mom was depressed my dad would be stressed, if my dad was stressed my mom would be depressed. It was like that all the time for me.
"How did they come up with the name Reney?" He asks glancing at me.
"It was my great grandmothers name. Reney Rose they used to call her." I say grinning.
"I like that name." Ben says smiling at me.
I smile back. My cheeks felt got and my stomach fluttered.
He was the best thing that ever happened to me.
