The Day of the Talent Show- March 22nd

All of the competitors of the show received an email notifying us of the schedule; who was gonna go first, second and so on. There were twelve performances together tonight. We never left the campus. Sean kept to himself. Every other performer now, except McKenzie, knew about his secret. Sarah, Lolo, and I asked everyone to sort of keep it quiet until the show.

Surprisingly, they did.

Sean had a different rehearsal time than McKenzie, so thankfully she never saw him around.

The show was gonna start around eight. It was seven twenty-three right now. Everyone was getting anxious, and the seats were piling with audience. The pressure was definitely on.

Lolo, Sarah, and I kept to ourselves. Lolo stayed with his turntable and began moving his hands to remember what he was gonna do. Sarah went to the corner and began moving her arms the way she would play the cello.

I, on the other hand, put in my earphones to: A. Block everyone out, and B. remember what I was gonna do. I kept the song on repeat and continued playing it until the clock struck 7:50. I looked out to the stage and it was set up with a drum set in the back, a keyboard near the other stage exit and a couple mics that were set aside. They were there in favor of Uncle Mick.

Everyone was getting more and more nervous than ever. The principal, Principal Sullivan, wished everyone good luck and walked out in front of the curtain.

Her voice boomed into the microphone the committee set up on the stage, "Good evening, everyone! My name is Brenda Sullivan and welcome to Robinson High's seventy-fifth annual talent show for the year of 2013!"

The applause and cheers echoed throughout the auditorium.

"We have a lot of talented people backstage waiting to show you what they can do. They're all prepared and ready for this. They've been practicing their heads off, making practice for the talent show a part of their daily lives, but! What's a talent show without an esteemed panel of judges?!"

Again, the cheers came.

"Judges! Will you please stand?"

I already knew who two of the judges were, so I didn't need to look out of the curtain.

Principal Sullivan began naming them off, "Our judges! Patrick Strause!" Insert clapping here, "Dominic Wolfe!" Insert more clapping, "And our guest judge, all the way from Los Angeles, California! He's worked with many famous artists that we know of today... Cory McKnight!" His applause was much louder than it was for Uncle Pat and Uncle Mick.

As their praise died down, Principal Sullivan began again, "Let's see those wonderful talents shall we?!"

The curtains opened and everyone else got out of the way. Sarah stood by though, she was the first one of us to go up.

Principal Sullivan had a small stack of cards and read off of it, she looked out to the crowd, "Here to perform Johann Sebastian Bach's Cello No. 1, I'm honored to present our first performer, Sarah Fuller!"

Everyone began clapping as Sarah walked out onstage. She sat down on a chair and began streaking her bow. Then the audience quieted down, watching her play, listening. We were all dead silent. Sarah's concentration face was on—she'd croon her neck and scrunch up her nose.
