~We've got to hold on ready or not. You live for the fight when it's all that you've got~ Bon Jovi- Livin' on a Prayer
I stepped inside, and dude, did my head almost fall off. There were guitars hanging on the walls, vinyl records, and today's CD's were stacked on the shelves exposing themselves to me. There were even some classical winds and stings in the corners of the room. It was music Heaven!
The sign read open but there was no one there.
The hell?
"Hello?" I called out, "Anyone here?"
Cricket.
"Hellooo?" I repeated.
Then all of a sudden, a guy and a girl with fuchsia purple hair walked out from one of the doors in the back. They both were wearing your normal, punk rock fashion. I liked it.
"Wow, a customer." The girl said sarcastically. She turned her head towards the guy, and a tattoo showed up on her neck right below her left ear. It read Listen in script font. It was pretty cool.
"A miracle." The guy joked.
The girl shook her head, "Can we help you?"
"Sorry, I was just looking." I inclined to what was currently surrounding me.
"Looking to buy something?" The guy asked hopefully.
"Hmm, not today." But trust me, I will.
"Bummer." The guy murmured.
"Don't mind him," The girl assured, "We just haven't had any luck in keeping this shop popular lately."
"Why not?" I asked.
She shrugged, "People are getting everything online nowadays. It's pretty sad. Technology taking over the world and everything. I mean, I use iTunes and Spotify, but sometimes it can be too much. Barely anyone owns a CD player anymore or even have a stereo in their car. Everything's through Bluetooth.
"Oh, that's right."
"Shit, what's wrong with me today?" She held out her hand, "I'm Kat, this is my step-brother Dean."
"Nice to meet you guys, I'm Skylar; or for short, Skye."
"Nice to meet you." Dean shook my hand next and the word Listen was tattooed on his wrist, the same font as Kat's.
"So, are you a musician?" Kat asked, "Or did the records just steer you in here?"
"Hah, well, yeah. The records pulled me in, but I play four instruments."
"Nice! What do you play?" Dean asked.
"Guitar, piano, drums, and the violin." I listed.
"Whoa." The both of them gawked at me.
"You know? We actually sell all instruments, they're just stored in the back, 'cause they can't all fit out here." Dean explained.
"Can I see?" I asked.
"Yeah!" They said simultaneously.
"You'll be one of the only people that have seen this part of the store. Usually people don't exactly care when it comes to the rest of our hidden treasures. They're usually here for a tune-up or repair, after that, they're finished. They come back when they need something again; they never stay for the pleasure of just being around other musicians. Guitar Center has all the attention." Kat said.
