The car parked. I dreaded the minutes of the ride between the house to campus. I knew that I wouldn't be able to get away from the consequences of me raising my voice to everyone this morning, or the fact that I have a slight fever. To answer their questions; yes, I do have a cold, but it's more of a stress cold.

I haven't been here for a full week yet and already I had someone on my ass about shit that I couldn't care less about, but I had to.

As soon as Skye slid the shift to park, I didn't wanna wait around to get questioned. I unlocked the door manually before she could to it automatically and got out. I know that I can trust her with anything that was on my mind, that she wouldn't tell a soul about all my secrets, but this was something that I didn't wanna tell her because I know for a fact that it'll disappoint her. She was the last person I ever wanna do that to.

She and I didn't have your typical brother/sister relationship. We're so much closer than that. I can't even remember the last time we fought. That's why I can't exactly tell her what's going on. I can't have the guilty conscience of giving her something else to worry about, especially since all the crap about moving to a new place is still raw and fresh in our minds.

I didn't dare look back at the car, knowing that she was already wondering what was bothering me. I got to the front of the school and my morning couldn't get any worse. Zach Smith was sitting on the ledge of the brick wall leading up to the entrance of the building.

He already ruined my night last night, and he just had to keep going on 'til this morning. After Skye and I said good night to each other last night, he ended up texting me to do his homework. Now, I know that it's the typical do-my-homework-or-suffer-the-consequences thing, but this time around? I have to.

"Hey Brooks!" He called out.

Control your anger, "What?"

"Did you do what I asked you to?"

I sighed, "Are you referring that I have a choice whether to do it or not? Why couldn't you ask you buddy Sean to do it?" I spat.

"He has more important stuff to do." He growled, "Just give me my Calc homework, you freak."

How he managed to pass all math levels surprises me to the core. I was about to reach into my backpack until I heard a car door close. I looked over at the parking lot and saw Skye standing near her car.

"Not here." I stated, "Let's go to our lockers."

We walked inside and made our way to our lockers; which, unfortunately, is right next to each other's. We reached them and I immediately dug into my backpack and gave the assignment to him.

"Here." I scowled handing him the assignment.

He patted my shoulder, "See? Things work better if you cooperate."

I swatted his hand away, "Don't tempt me, Smith." I walked in closer to fill in the gap between us.

"Or what? Freshman? You're gonna tell your big sissy on me?" He cocked his head to the side.

"Skye has nothing to do with this."

"Then back down, kid. Unless you want her to know what you did a couple days ago, and I have proof. Don't forget that. Besides, I don't think she'll be the only one interested in what happened. I think the administrators would be very interested also."
