The week passed by in a blur, Rowan and I meeting for shopping as we promised and me working as much as I could at Susie's Smoothies- even covering shifts for my workmates. Before I knew it, school had started again and suddenly it was the beginning of December, meaning Coventry's annual athletics event was coming up.

This was the sporting event of the year- people from across the nation came to compete at this event. No wonder Carter and River were training so rigorously, the event alone was a massive deal- not to mention the amount of people who would be watching it.

I wasn't sure who it meant more to, maybe it was equal. However, River and I had gotten close again, he even asked me help him train some days.

"You know, I've never really met a girl who is into sport as much as you." He told me one time we were doing laps at our schools track.

I smiled a little. "It keeps me busy."

"Well, most girls spend their time shopping and fussing over their outfits."

I stopped running and slapped his arm, laughing. "So stereotypical. But then again, you never take any time to get to know any of the girls you hook up with, do you?"

He shook his head, a small smile curving his lips. "You got me there. Now, let's get back to it."

I didn't know if Carter knew I was helping River by being his workout buddy, but then again I didn't care what he thought. River was my friend, I had nothing to do with whatever brall the two had between them. I put it down to it just being an excessive amount of testosterone that made them oppose each other. You know, I watched this movie one time that said when males feel challenged their hormone levels heighten...

Yeah, let's not get into that.

Rowan and Jack were closer than ever, they even invited Carter and I for a double date. However, I was the third wheel because Carter decided a night of training was more important than taking a night off to see his girlfriend. Yep, that stung. Although, I used the opportunity to get to know Jack a little better, considering the only time I had seen him was at the party.

Let me just tell you, I adored Carter, but Jack was super fly, too. Plus, he could tell jokes for daysssss. He didn't even seem bothered I was there- he was so transfixed by Rowan that he wanted to befriend me because I was a part of her life. How sweet.

I found it odd though, however, that he didn't talk about Carter. Although when he didn't show up, his face showed a mixture of pissed and shocked before he quickly masked it.

"So, Branwen, what are you doing tonight?" River ran up to me in the hallway as I had just left my final class. It was a Friday and I could not look more forward to spending my weekend revising and doing homework. Yay.

"I was just going to reluctantly revise, how about you?"

We were walking side by side now, my sight swarmed with the colours of our school uniform. Black trousers, skirts and blazers, and our turquoise striped ties.
