Carter and I didn't meet for another week because his weekend was full of partying and being hungover. As a result of this, he texted me all throughout the following week, continuously apologising for his previous drunken actions.

"Again, I'm really sorry about last weekend." He told me as he sipped his mango smoothie. "I got so hammered, man, I so paid for that the next day."

My lips tugged into a small smile as I looked down the straw I was sipping my berry smoothie through."I bet you did."

We were currently at Susie's Smoothies, and I had a mixed berry one. It was my absolute favourite, as I wasn't a big fan of orange and lemon flavours. I almost always went there to get a smoothie after my workouts or runs, as, like Rowan hinted at, I loved being healthy and keeping fit. I supposed Carter and I were similar in that aspect, except where I had lean muscles, he had large, bulky, intimidating ones, in which I was currently enjoying eyeing up. His abrupt, loud laughter made me snap out of eyeballing his impressive biceps, and look at his ridiculously handsome face, instead. I swear, I could have melted right there and then on the little plastic orange chairs we were sitting on.

"You look like a cougar right now," he laughed, instantly making me flush red. "If you want me, just say the word."

I smacked him on his arm, hard. "Shut up! We're in a public place you imbecile!"

"So, I take that as a yes?"

I groaned aloud, causing some people to stare. Don't get me wrong; Carter's company was extremely amusing, but sometimes very infuriating, too. Which was why I pulled the straw out of my smoothie, and flicked the remains onto his face.

At first, he was shocked, but after a beat, he burst into a low, rumbling fit of laughter. "Raisin Bran, you know I love sweet things." He winked at me as he trailed his thumb across his cheek where the smoothie remains had landed, then popped it into his mouth to taste it. Somehow, I thought what he said had a double meaning, considering how dirty minded he was, but I didn't let him know that I knew that.

"Well, I like sweet things, too." And then I swooped away his smoothie with my hand before he could stop me, and took a long sip, making sure a good amount of the straw was in my mouth. I slowly retracted it, my eyes meeting his heated stare the whole time. "What?" I asked innocently. "You had a taste of mine, it's only fair I had a taste of yours." A sly smile took over my face as he took his smoothie back from me.

"You, my little Raisin Bran, are very cunning." His eyes seemed to glow but with what emotion, I could not tell. I was the one with a smirk on my face for a change, instead of him.

"Well, it takes one to know one. With, you know, you having sex on the phone to your mum and acting like you were just 'on a ride' at a carnival."

I didn't take Carter for one to get flushed, but at that moment his carved cheekbones blotched a peachy pink.

"Have I told you how glad I am that you weren't my mum, and how sorry I am you had to hear that?"

I barked out a laugh, not caring if it was not very lady-like of me. "Oh, hunny, don't flatter yourself. I hung up before I could hear her disappointment from your performance." I smiled shyly, because I knew that her reaction was exactly the opposite of that. More like an indulgence of ecstasy and painful bliss, going by her exclamation at his intrusion on her grounds...if you know what I mean. I realised eventually that I was the one blushing now.

"Oh, just you wait and see what I can do." He winked at me, and my face had turned a bright, fire engine red colour.

After drinking our large smoothies, we decided to take a drive through our city Stonenesse in his car. Whilst he was driving to some unknown destination, I was lost in my thoughts. I still didn't understand why he had not spoken to me since my hospital incident, and I wasn't sure if I should bring up how hurt I was about it or not. Instead, we got onto the topic of the upcoming major sports event, the Stonenesse 2017 Athlete of the Year. This was what River was training for, and he and Carter were hot rivals.

"Are you worried about your opposition?" I asked curiously, testing to see how he felt about River. Carter had no idea River and I were somewhat friends, nor that he had visited me in hospital, too. And honestly, I didn't know how he would react to that.

"River Burrow?" He snickered. "Hell no! I can beat that ass hole any day!" He exclaimed with arrogance and a hint of anger.

"I'm assuming you both don't get along then?"
