Carter had turned up at my door every day, but my mum always turned him away, and I wouldn't be surprised if he had given up. I sure felt like I had.
Rowan told me it's unfair to just cut him off without telling him what's wrong. Thing is, I couldn't even talk. Rowan didn't even know what was wrong, either. For the first time in her life, I don't think she knew what to do. And for the first time in my life, I had completely blocked everyone out.
I'd become numb.
