We'd finished our drama rehearsal for the day, deciding who was going to be who. I was Cinderella, Jack was Prince Charming, and Finn was the protective brother.
We left the class and went to our next lesson. I wasn't in the same class with Jack or Finn, their next lesson was physics and they were both in the same class, so I made my way over to art.
I was using oil pastels to draw a ballerina. A dancing figure which so far looked absolutely terrible despite the fact that i'd been workin on it for days. As soon as i'd just about finished the bell rang and after the teacher dismissed the class I put it on top of my art book so it didn't smudge and walked out to the canteen.
Jack and Finn were talking about physics, by the side of a table, "jack, that's ridiculous,i'm telling you the voltage stays the same!"
"Finn. It does not stay the same, it decreases. Seriously do you not learn anything." I immediately knew what they were talking about.
"Actually, you're both wrong. If you increase the voltage across a resistor, the current increases. What you were saying is absolutely ridiculous, like seriously do you not learn anything?" I interjected imitating their superior voices. When I started talking they had both turned around to greet me.
"Amelia, I knew you were clever, but not that clever, maybe we should do some private tutor sessions sometime" Jack said winking at me.
Then Finn decided to do his own impressions of Jack - "Oh Amelia! Your majesty! You are too good to be true my love! How were you made by humans, it is as if you were hand carved then delicately painted by God himself. Tell me my dear, did it hurt when you fell from heaven"
By then I was trying to hold in my laughter while Jack scowled at Finn, which quickly turned into a sarcastic smile. "Actually Finn," he spat "you took the words right out of my mouth"
I know I didn't know Jack that well but I knew he was seriosuly angry. I could just tell, and when Jack was angry, that wasn't good. Luckily, well that's what I thought, one of Jack's "crew" came up to him and pierced the silence "Jack, why the hell are you sitting with...her, seriously you could do better."
Jack shot up from his seat and walked right up to him. "Sorry? I could turn the whole school on you, but I won't since I wouldn't want Amelia to feel like she's to blame. And actually, since i've met Amelia i've been the happiest I ever have been. I've realised that using girls just isn't worth it. You need to stop mate, not for your sake, for theirs. I couldn't care less about you." He replied vemonously and sat back down.
The boy cowered away to sit with his group of friends and Jack had his hand curled in a fist, staring at it, jaw clenched, willing himself not to lash out. Finn finally cracked a smile "Nice one mate,"
The smile was shortly wiped off his face, as his brother snapped at him "Shut Up Finn. Don't act like you care about me."
Finn stood up. "what the hell Jack. I thought you'd have got over yourself by now. Obviously I was wrong."
I tried to call him back but it was too late, as he walked out of the door he turned back and looked at me. "I'll catch up with you later Amelia."
I turned to Jack. "You and Finn didn't just argue about calculating resistance did you?"
Jack shook his head and I could see tears of anger brimming in his eyes.
