‘Alpha, there is a wolf on our territory, he claims to be from Wisconsin and has got an urgent message for you.’ Liam came walking in and announced the stranger’s request.

‘Is he alone?’ I asked, I needed to be sure we were in no way under attack, not that we were even in a state of war, our numbers alone were intimidating and would have any alpha thinking twice to attack us. Not to mention our highly trained fighters who are truly lethal.

‘Yes, he also claims he had a vision about the future of our pack and hopes to change that because it won’t end good. That is why he wants to join our pack to help change that. He says he has skills that could be of great use in the future.’ Liam looked skeptic.

‘Did he agree to me probing his mind?’

Liam smiled. ‘Yes he did.’

‘Alright, let him in and bring him to me. What is his name?’ I asked.

‘He says his name is Aaron Lowell.’ The name sounded vaguely familiar and I could sense Quinn stirring, he hasn’t been in contact with me for several hours. It happened before but not like this with him not answering my questions. Instead of getting pissed off by it I decided to let him be for the time being. He’ll come around eventually.

My parents came in from the other room. ‘So there is a wolf from Wisconsin? That’s a long way from his pack. And why would he want to changes packs, wolves do not do that too often unless their pack is becoming corrupt or they are treated badly.’ My mother asked worried. She always had a kind heart.

My parents were my counselors because I haven’t had the alpha position for long, I was still learning the ropes.

We didn’t wait long. When Liam entered he mind linked me. ‘The kid seems okay, young but intelligent and friendly enough. He has got a vibe around him that makes me think he knows more and is able to do much more than he says he is able to.’

‘Aaron, this is alpha Asher Woods, those people in the back are the previous alpha and luna.’

‘It is a pleasure to meet you all.’ Aaron said and looked me straight in the eye.

Without hesitation I sat down in my chair behind the desk en motioned him to sit down as well.

‘What is your reason of being here?’

‘Within a couple of days Alpha Duke Caskan will invite you to negotiate certain matters, what they are I do not know. It will be a trap, he wants to kill you and your best fighters and take over your pack.’

I heard my mother gasp for air at that statement and Quinn was out as well, growling against every threat my pack might have. I remained calm.

‘How do you come by this knowledge?’

Aaron breathed slowly and said. ‘I have dreams that tell me certain parts of the future. Alpha Duke used this knowledge to keep me within his pack and overthrow several other packs in the area. He started out small but he becomes more vicious every time he is able to take another life. The bloodlust is taking over his rational thinking. I couldn’t take it anymore and ran when I saw the chance.’

‘Bloodlust makes the most levelheaded alpha turn crazy, like a dog with rabies.’ My mother whispered in my mind.

‘Okay, let’s suppose I believe you, what is it you want from me?’

‘A safe place in your pack and a place on pack lands in Maryland near Delaware, my family lives in Kentucky at the moment, they are in danger and I know Alpha Duke will try to use them as leverage to get me back. I can’t have that. The visions will help him to rule but he’s crazy.’
