~Mila~

We were driving for a hour and a half and I’ve been talking to Kate and Aaron the entire trip.

Turns out Kate never knew she had a wolf heritage. She had been in the foster care for as long as she could remember and on the evening of her birthday her wolf unleashed herself.

Kate had called her wolf Grace because at the exact moment she realized her wolf was there to stay and she would never be alone again a day in her life she viewed her wolf as her own private miracle.

And knowing that Miracle would be an over the top cliché they decided on Grace.

Those weeks after her birthday she spend a lot of time getting to know her wolf, that was the reason she was out of it pretty frequently at that time.

She told me that it was as if she was reborn, stronger, more athletic and able to sense her surroundings a million times better than before. When she sniffed out Aaron she knew what I would become and decided to stay close because she cared for me.

He hadn’t found her mate yet and really wanted to find him. That was logical because she never really had a family. Her foster parents were friendly enough people but very preoccupied with their own children.

‘Dad, there will be a motel a few miles up the road, we need to get there as soon as possible and get Mila into the woods.’ I heard Aaron say through the walkie talkie.

‘Alright.’

We were already in Virginia, it wasn’t far now but we needed to stop for my shift.

I couldn’t shift in the car. That would just suck and I’ll probably hurt someone in the process.

I’ve been feeling more and more antsy and I decided to share that with Aaron and Kate.

‘I’m feeling like it’s going to happen any time now Aaron.’

He responded immediately. ‘Is your temperature rising?’

‘No, I don’t think so. I’m not warm or anything right now.’

‘Then we still have time.’ I heard Kate say.

‘There’s the motel.’ Dad motioned and we were there.

Dad hopped out of the car and checked in to the room furthest into the woods. He got one room, it was only for a couple of hours. We wouldn’t stay long.

He took Kyle and some necessities and motioned for me to go to Aaron and Kate who just parked next to us. He took the sleeping Kyle up to the room.

We walked into the woods and I looked at the two people in front of me. ‘Can we go through the motions one more time?’ I asked him.

‘Alright, when you shift for the first time your inner wolf will be unleashed. I have to tell you that I do not have a lot of experience with that seeing that I blacked out because of shock.

But I heard from others that shifting for the first time is painful because you make room for your wolf. Your wolf is another entity within yourself. When you come of age those primal instincts you already have will grow and you will be able to talk to your wolf.

I’ve heard stories of people gaining wolves who are old. That means they already have a name and know about the werewolf world. They will counsel you and help you through the process of shifting. But you need to realize that those wolves have a strong personality and a will of their own. You need to stay focused and in control because if you don’t they will use you for their own purposes when they are in wolf form.
