~Mila~
After lunch Asher took me back to his office and closed the door behind him.
‘Mila, I want to introduce you as my mate at the meeting.’ He said with a smile.
‘Sure.’ I smiled back and sat down on the couch. ‘What will the meeting be about?’ I asked.
Everyone was really unsure about what they are going to talk about so I bet Asher was the only one with a clue, seeing as he is the one who ordered the meeting.
‘You have to realize that if I officially introduce you as my mate it will cause questions because your roots are unknown to most. Plus it will make you a target to anyone who wishes me harm.’
‘And here I thought you were such a welcome addition to the werewolf community.’ I said with a smile but that smile instantly ceased when I saw his serious expression.
‘I’m dead serious about this, there are wolves out there who seek to destroy certain alpha’s to get control of a great pack. I have been challenged before but the new comer never got the pack behind him so I never had a match. But the only way to get my position is to kill me in a fair fight. Taking you out will mean I lost my reason to live. Then our pack will be easy to take over.’ He smiled at me and I couldn’t help but feel flattered by his sweet words.
‘They won’t be able to kill me.’ I said confidently and Asher shook his head. ‘Some are able to take out the best alpha’s out there. We need to be vigilant and I need you to be safe.’
I nodded but then realized something. ‘I’m not allowed to go to college.’
Asher shook his head. ‘You can go to the university within the pack territory but New York is not an option right now.’ He hesitated. ‘Things are very unstable right now Mila, we first need to figure out who is behind this and do something about it. I won’t allow you to go.’ At his last sentence he used his alpha voice and turned around as if he expected me to listen.
I stood up and walked right up to him. Needless to say I was extremely pissed off by the use of his tone. ‘Don’t you dare use that tone with me Woods. I can take care of myself. I’m not some feeble little girl who faints every time something bad happens. You can’t order me what to do.’ I practically growled.
He sighed and turned around. ‘I know and I am sorry, but nevertheless you are not allowed to leave the pack territory. If anything happens to you I will be crushed.’
Even though I understood his concern I growled at him. ‘We are partners Asher, you don’t just order me to do something. If that is the way it’s going to be you are not the man I thought you were.’
I wanted to storm out the office but Asher caught me in his arms.
I couldn’t help but enjoy the tingles and warm shivers coursing through my body. ‘Mila, think about this. You will not be safe outside this pack.’
I sighed with annoyance. Why are guys so daft sometimes? ‘I know that Asher and if you would have just asked I would be fine with it because I’m not stupid okay, I know things are not right. But you ordered me around as if I was just another she wolf in your pack. Who the hell do you think you are pulling stunt like that?’ I practically yelled at him.
He let go of me. ‘You didn’t want to go in the first place?’ He asked me with a confused face.
‘Jeez Asher, I thought we already talked about this at Lunar Sky. Is your short term memory working at all?’
I was still pissed off because he tried to order me around. He just looked at me and started grinning. ‘You are right. I did forget with you getting attacked and all.’ He took my hands. ‘Can we please kiss and make up?’ He tried with puppy dog eyes.
