Once downstairs we could see the reason of his mothers distress.

Melany was lying on the kitchen table with bite marks all over her small fragile body. There was blood everywhere. Several men were trying to counter the bleeding. In the corner of the kitchen stood five menacing looking men silently watching.

‘What happened?’ Asher demanded.

‘We are not sure Alpha. These Darklight warriors brought her back, they claim she was about to be taken into their territory and they thought they should investigate. Instead of fighting them the rogues who kidnapped her tried to kill her instead. They tried to prevent it as much as they could and brought her back when they had won the fight.’ The enforcer looked at the five men and it was obvious he wasn’t comfortable around them.

Connor ran in, followed by several enforcers who were wearing equipment. ‘I heard and came as soon as I could.’

He got to work on Melany. ‘Her wounds are shallow but she lost a lot of blood.’ He turned to Lilly. ‘What’s her blood type Lil?’

‘O positive.’ Lilly said with tearstained eyes. I walked towards her and put my arm around her. The soft movement of her silent tears was the only thing I saw from her.

Conner nodded. ‘Good, we have those in supply.’

He set some men to work and started stitching up Melany’s wounds. He looked at us and explained. ‘It’s to prevent her from bleeding out, her own healing abilities will have to do the rest.’

Asher turned towards the warriors. ‘Let’s talk.’

He walked towards his office, I and the warriors followed.

They eyed me with curiosity. ‘You are the new luna?’ One man asked, he seemed the leader of the group.

‘Yes I am.’ I said with a smile.

‘You are not frightened of us.’ Another concluded.

That startled me a bit. ‘Should I be?’ I asked the same man.

That earned me a quick smile. ‘Only if you are a problem.’ He countered with a grin.

‘Still not impressed.’ I grinned and continued walking.

Asher was already in his office and he turned around to face the men.

‘What’s your name and your rank?’ I asked the man.

‘I’m Wendell Owens. Right now I’m second in command, but when we were still a pack I was the Delta. Fourth in command.’ The spokesman said, it was the same man who talked with me.

I nodded and I looked at the other men who needed no other incentive and introduced themselves as

Kenneth, Cole, James and Dylan, they were pack enforcers years back and stayed with the warriors after the pack dispersed.

‘What happened to my sister exactly?’ Asher asked. I could sense his anger brewing, not towards these men but towards the men who did this to his sister.

The man who talked to me answered. ‘We were doing our rounds. Our leader Callum had instructed us to be extra vigilant and take no rogues for granted. So when we saw the seven men with one struggling young girl we immediately took action.’ He paused a bit and his eyes hardened. ‘When they spotted us they made no attempt to defend themselves but they turned on the girl and attacked her where they could. The girl really is a little fighter because she defended herself the best she could but she was no match for seven of them. We were too late to make sure she was uninjured. Before she passed out she said she belonged with Crimson blood so we brought her back. A woman in the village below recognized her immediately and told us to go here.’
